Can't Edit Fuel Amount in Career Mode

Workaround for carreer mode with own company and plane:

Since we are not able to add fuel in any meaningful way, or at least it seems so, you should do this when you start a mission:

  1. Enter the Manage Aircraft option when starting the mission, so when you are standing in the hangar with the plane in the background.

  2. In the Management menu, go to fuel & payload, and set the amount you need by clicking and then scrolling.

  3. Save it, and start the mission. The fuel will not be added yet.

  4. Now, the trick: Press ESC and restart the mission - Now, when you enter the plane, the fuel you had set is added to your aircraft. Enjoy longer flights!

EDIT: TBM has a separate fuel issue where it constantly starts with 0 fuel. In order to fix this, you will need to load up a free flight in the TBM for your active session, with fuel, then go back to carreer mode and it will have the same amount there. OR, go into keybinds and add a keybind for “Repair and refuel” and click that to fill your tanks before takeoff.

You sir, are an absolute LEGEND

Thanks for the tip about add fuel.. I just can’t comprehend what the develoepers are thinking..? This is the same issue we had with the bush trips in 2020..

I cannot believe that these missions/career mode are made by anyone who understands anything about flightsimming otherwise you would immediately see such a obvious error..

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Even with mixture on full lean fuel qty is not sufficient

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:
• Private transfer #FCW2811 - Big Bear City for example no where near enough fuel and no option to increase amount. Mission is therefore impossible and incredibly frustrating given the amount of time it takes too complete only to run out of fuel en route

I dont know if this accurate or not - they may have added unlimited fuel to career? I was just in a 172, icing like crazy, so burning way more than expected to keep speed up. Hit low fuel 100nm out. Figured I was done for - but hey, see how it goes and try to add the fuel for a restart..

I was red barred the last chunk of the flight, but the engine kept on going. Just an FYI if someone wants to try that out next time they’re low on gas for a trip.

You got lucky - that’'s all. I have had engine shutting down from depleted fuel and others mentioned they suffered failed missions for this reason too.

Those who can just use the binding to force fuel on missions now since the actual mechanic for fuel managment is broken.

Hello Career Bug impossible to refuel and even in my company

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• YES

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• example: When i Add 2/3 Fuel to it via Managment in the mission, later i see in the C172 that i only have 40% loaded…

The issue can be reproduced on 1.1.9.0 hotfix

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
The aircraft fuel level cannot be changed using Career mode aircraft Management tool nor EFB. The fuel level is always set to half the capacity of the aircraft fuel tank, in some situations the issue can cause the Player to crash their aircraft as the fuel runs out before reaching the destination.

Honestly, it’s unacceptable that a game like MSFS 2024, which is supposed to set the standard for simulation, has a career mode this poorly thought out. Here’s my experience: I took on a medical transport mission lasting about 3 hours and 30 minutes. The fuel was preloaded and obviously insufficient. Before the flight, I did my own calculations, as I like to approach things realistically, and it was clear the fuel wouldn’t be enough—even without considering the safety reserves that should always be included.

Despite knowing this, I started the mission and managed my fuel as carefully as possible. However, a small portion of the flight with headwinds made things even harder. The result? I ran out of fuel at the runway threshold of the destination airport, after nearly 4 hours of flying for nothing.

How did the developers overlook such a basic feature as fuel management before the flight? It’s not like it would be difficult to implement. This is absurd. I really hope they address this soon, because right now, it’s just incredibly frustrating.

It only takes two hours of playing the game to notice this issue. How can developers overlook something so obvious? Why is it becoming a trend to release unfinished games? It’s completely unacceptable. I’m frankly tired of this kind of thing.

To extend this report further, another plane heavily affected is the TBM970 - which is an obvious problemm for passenger/airliner flights. You don’t have 1 hour of fuel even, and most flights will be around 2 hours.

not half, it’s different for each type.

EG: the DHC Beaver gets only 30%.

TBM seems to get around 20%.

Cessna gets close to half, but left tank has a little more fuel than right tank.

I wasn’t able to get the restart mission to give any fuel or any hotkeys… but I got an idea as soon as I posted. I was able to use simconnect to set the fuel.

200 (>A:FUEL TANK LEFT MAIN QUANTITY,gallons) 200 (>A:FUEL TANK RIGHT MAIN QUANTITY,gallons)

400 gallons was what i needed. why this works and not ADD_FUEL_QUANTITY is beyond me. maybe the kvar is locked behind realism?

Now for a nice quick app that can be used to do so until Asobo fixes this.

I have the same issue. Also adding fuel using the management button and fuel up to my liking does not work. It costs then money, but does not change the starting quantity.
Since career mode only works with live weather and heavy winds have to be expected, fuel is very often an issue.
If you buy a Daher TBM it will only appear without fuel at mission start.

did you try restarting the mission after loading in? it works every time for me

You, my friend, are the best there is.

For now I have bound a key to add fuel. I’m not sure if I"m being charged for it or not. For me the management screen, nor the efb, or anything else works once in the flight.

Thank you that worked well <3
