I’ve been trying to download this new 2024 sim since yesterday (Day 1 release) and am still trying.
I purchased it through Microsoft Store.
The first part of the install went perfectly (11.95Gb) then went straight to “Almost Done” and then “100%” with the following message:
I clicked on the MSFS2024 logo which took me to the following page:
Oh marvellous! Something went wrong did it? I would have had no idea
A standard message. I don’t believe for a second that anyone is working on it or even if they’re aware of my issue. That stinks of a standard message from an automated system.
After all literally millions of people from all over the globe have downloaded this thing. Ok, it doesn’t work yet but I’d like to at least get it downloaded and installed ready for if or whenever Microsoft/Asobo actually get it working properly.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so is there a solution for it so that I might at least download the software I’ve so far foolishly paid for? I know there’s no rush given the state of the sim at the moment but I’d like to be ready for the time it might become playable.
My intended install location is a clean and newly formatted partition on an ssd. All it has on it is the first part of install i.e. 11.95 Gb.
I can’t believe I’m the only one with this issue. I’ve even gone as far as doing a windows 10 repair install to get that possibility out of the way.

Hi Chefdish, if I ever find a solution to this I will let you know. However, I have also applied for a refund, but while I still own the sim I will continue to search for a solution.
Yeah I tried both from MS Store and through the x-box app. Same error. However, I have today found an old ssd and deleted any partitions on it and created new. Then I installed a squeaky clean fresh version of windows 10 pro and updated ms store, installed X-Box app, updated that and tried again. Hey presto! It worked.
It’s a bit of a drastic solution but at least it solved my issues. Seems that it may be a windows issue as I tried re-installing X-Box app and MS Store on the original ssd and the issue persisted i.e. “Package could not be registered. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80073CF6)”
Now all I have to do is figure out the easiest way to get it back to the drive and folder I want.
HI, Im sure its a windows issue, something to do with a service thats not running and required for the updated xbox app and the ms store. very odd that both will not download… Where is my money? Where is the game I paid for 2 months ago lol, geez Microsoft… ITS THE SAME COMPANY… get it together… My windows is fine. I can download anything else from the store too. Just this game and believe me, I have the hardware to support it. Just very sad, that lots of people have it, and i dont, yet.
Well, I finally managed to get my refund today using the link kindly supplied by NeilWoodsey and MrBiscuitThe Cat. Thank you for that. Here is the link should you need it.
