I have a light cargo company with one Cessna 172. I am ready to buy a second 172 for the same company and place it in a different part of the US. I know the airport where I want it delivered but when I click on the airport in the Free Flight map, I don’t see the Fast Travel option. In the Career Missons map, there are very few airports shown - my desired airport is grayed out. Online posts lead me to believe I have to unlock my desired airport before I can place my new plane there. Would really appreciate a step-by-step of how to place a new plane in a different location than my first plane.
It depends how far you are from the new airport.
When you land at the mission airport you may have seen a circle open up on the world map - yes?
If you go the equivalent diameter outside of that circle at an airport dot and scroll in right down to select the airport, you’ll see it offers you the option to port to it if you pay a fee. If you pay it, it will open up another circle on the map.
Now, if you want to open up a circle say in a different country, it will cost a fortune to do it this way. Your best bet is to select the area you want by flying a really short EMPLOYEE flightseeing mission or whatever your preference is in that area. It will open up a new circle in which you can now place your new company aircraft in freelance.
You can only place an aircraft in an open circle.
Your response is very helpful. Should this work? I select the Employee option. I zoom in on the airport where I want my new plane delivered. I pay the Fast Travel fee and then find a mission in the area. I fly the mission to open up a circle which includes the airport where I want to place my second plane.
Yes if you want the expensive option. Find where you want to place your plane, pay the fee.
BUT, if you want to do it the cheaper way, find an employee mission that is 30min long at or near the landing airport you want to put your plane.
I hope you read this before doing it the expensive way. (Unless it is not too far from an open circle)
I haven’t made a move yet. I prefer the cheap approach but there are no employee missions of any kind anywhere near the airport where I want to place the new plane. There is no open circle anywhere near my target airport. Should I be able to see Employee missions anywhere in the US? Thanks
Yes, for flightseeing or aircraft delivery and the photo flights, employee normally has them all over. Are you able to take a screenshot of the area you want when the world map is in employee mode and I can have a look. Later this pm I will sign into the sim and I can look what’s going on.
I’ll try to figure out how to take the screenshot.
Making progress. I took screenshot and found it in the Steam View menu. Will next try to figure out how to load it into this forum.
I want to place the plane near Abilene, Texas. Closest missions visible are those east of Little Rock. Hope you can see this screenshot.
Good screenshot.
I can see Abilene, it is a regional airport.
So the bottom point of my blue time strip is about the same as the edge of your circle.
You can go sideways to Abilene, it will cost you about 3 to 4 x 850 Cr (more or less) payments to get there (In FREELANCE) and you will also open the map for more missions and you can put your plane there straight away. I open up heaps of map like this because my options become so much more varied.
In this instance, because Abilien is only those few circles away I would just pay those few thousands, you have enough.
Otherwise, you need to hover your mouse over a mission and see which one gets closest to Abilene and fly those missions. - SEE below (although I do not have quite your circle open you will see what I mean.)
You can see if I scroll in closer more missions open up. The blue line is where the mission is going and that will open up another circle. So you can do this method or the quicker way and sacrifice a few thousand (no more than 4,000 Cr) to open a circle.
NB, your pilot symbol will need to be in the circle you wish to start from. See mine
So I can open up anything from this pilot symbol next to the open circle. Bear in mind the further you go from the symbol the charge will be more to port to it. You could just try and see how much it is to post to Abiline if you pilot symbol is nearby.
I will show you how much it is for me to post from this island near Australie to there and you will see what I mean.
Obviously this is very expensive and you would not do this.
But you get the idea how to pay the Fast Travel to open it up.
It will cost about 6k to go ahead and fast travel to Abilene as an employee. I’m assuming that only relocates me as a pilot - my current plane stays where it is currently located (?) Do I have to fast travel back to my plane once I’m done flying a mission in the Abilene area? I also assume flying the employee mission will open up the circle in the Abilene area and I can have my new plane delivered to Abilene. Please let me know if I have any of this incorrect, Thanks
You can fast travel for the same money in Freelance to Abilene (if you go straight there that is without opening other circles along the way towards Abilene).
Once you have the map open you will be able to place your new 172 or whichever there.
Your current plane will remain where it is.
Wherever you next pick a mission from, your pilot avatar will go there for free. It will just follow the mission and plane chosen. Your pilot avatar only moves for Credit cost if you wish to open areas.
Lets say for arguments sake you own 20 aircraft. 1 In USA, 1 In Africa, 1 in Russia etc, after you have flown the one in the USA and you want a change to fly in a different country, you just pick the mission and it will offer you to transfer your NEAREST aircraft to the mission chosen, as long as that aircraft is valid for those types of missions, FOR A TRANSFER FEE for the aircraft - NOT the pilot. Pick a mission near an aircraft of choice in an open area.
In the beginning when your funds are not as high, you have to make sensible choices until your balance builds up and then you can afford to pay to transfer aircraft crazy distances. (I once paid 56,000Cr to transfer a C208 in Africa)
If you were to fly in employee mode the same applies. If you opened an area up in employee it stays open in freelance (and vice versa).
Any more questions, please ask.
I paid the fee for fast travel to Abilene and flew an employee ferry mission. Then I bought my second Cessna 172 and had it delivered to KABI (Abilene Regional). I’m ready to fly cargo missions in this newly opened area with the new plane. I want to set “Crew On” my original plane but not sure how. Found my two planes under the Fleet section and both show Crew Off. Apparently, I should be able to toggle the Crew On for my old plane but can’t find anyway to do it. Clicked everything but nothing changes. Any suggestions? By the way - thanks for helping me get this far.
You are welcome
Go to the company hanger where your 2 airplanes are.
Single click on its icon. Click on “Assign Pilot” from off TO on
Click on “Assign Pilot” from off TO on, easy as that.
Set both to on, that way if you are flying one the other will earn and you don’t need to keep returning to switch it over.
Now remember, the one you are not flying is earning “passive” earnings. It still continues to need maintenance. If you do not keep up with the maintenance it will NOT fly or earn you passive Cr. Check on them at least every 10 hours because you may find batteries and tyres need replacing often.
Under “Manage aircraft” - your employee is in effect flying it so it deteriorates - OK
There is a good thread to follow called Career mode - just search. There are other threads in this forum which will help you learn all sorts of other things if you choose the right search terms. Youtube is another good place to learn.
A recommendation now is for you to earn enough Cr to buy a Vision Jet after you buy the VIP company. At first you will fly private missions in the EU or NE USA. Once you earn sufficient Cr you can buy a bigger plane and you will be able to earn a lot more per flight flying VIP. These flights earn far more than cargo but it is a real grind to get the credits.
VIP aircraft below
Of course they cost a lot more but will earn you more in the end especially if you leave LIVE weather on.
So “Assign Pilot” has the same effect as Crew On. Thanks for the career advice also.
