What does this do in the de-icing panel?
Even the da62 manuel doesnt tell me…
I believe the ALTERNATE switch connects the main pump no. 2 directly to the RH main bus. Thus, in case of a total loss of the LH ( Left Half of the plane) main bus in icing conditions, operation of the ice protection system similar to the HIGH mode is possible. (Look for “SUPPLEMENT S02
TO THE AIRPLANE FLIGHT MANUAL DA 62 ICE PROTECTION SYSTEM”)

nice thanks i read this, but when i have to press it ? i can switch from pump 1 to pump 2 with the switch.
I understand this this way - There are 2 Main Electrical Buses - Left and Right. Both pumps are connected via the Left one, and pump 2 has an additional alternate connection to the Right Main bus via that ALTERNATE switch. In case we lost the Left bus due to electric problems, we can use the ALTERNATIVE switch to connect pump 2 via the Right bus. When to use is described somewhere under Abnormal procedures in Supplement 3, if I remember properly.
