I already thought of that, but I don’t necessarily think that that’s the case here. But I still have to investigate further to get exact numbers. Thanks for your advice though!
Interesting points which I would not dispute.
But I am, if nothing else, a pragmatist and experience tells me that my FPS of 40, or there about’s,
is more stable with [for MSFS only] G-Sync OFF.
By way of a contrast, Fall Out 76’, for example, is the opposite situation. There I get a ‘rock solid’
72 FPS [half the 144 native res] that exhibits a lot of varience without G-Sync.
So, I found out something really weird. The suggestion to check my fps from @CaptGrogbeard made me double check my fps, so I also checked them with the fps counter from the developer menu in MSFS. So I get between 30-70fps, depending on the aircraft and the region I’m flying in. That’s pretty normal I’d say, and within the range of my G-Sync.
And now something really weird happened. The moment I turned the developer mode on, my G-Sync started working. I’m not fooling you, I’m serious. Then I disabled the developer mode, G-Sync still worked. Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the problem and I haven’t made any screenshots. Even after restarting the sim several times, G-Sync stays working. Toggling the developer mode actually “fixed” my issue. Or it was something else that happened, but then I didn’t do it.
Let’s see if it’ll still work the next time I reboot my pc. I’ll report back.
Can you tell me what did you do to get it working please. I have a freesync monitor but it’s gsync compatible due to my gpu being Nvidia
So I have a 60mhz monitor , 60/2= 30
So should I set my frame rate to 30 on Nvidia control panel?
if you have stutters with 60, for sure try a frame-limit of 30.
V-sync on Nvidia control panel ( of MFS) : ON
Yes I have stutters even at default airports. But they go away once I’m above 10,000.
I have V-Sync ON under MSFS in the Nvidia Control Panel, but I don’t have it locked to a frame rate number. Will that be the reason for my stutters?
Stutters are the main friends/enemies right now in all Flight Sims. With some tests & research on MFS you could decrease stuttering on a good level. Depends always of course of how powerful is your hardware + Monitor + MFS settings
Hey Camargo, as I wrote in my last post, I basically just toggled the developer mode. That fixed my issue. At least I think that that is what fixed it, because that was the only thing that I did. If it was something else that got changed (which then made it work), it wasn’t me who did it.
Umm I turned on the developer mode on and I see no sign that my G-sync is working?
Is there like a pop-up somewhere around the screen saying that it’s on?
Developer mode 100% has nothing to do with G-Sync!
send your spec: Monitor + Hardware + windows etc
@Camargo24 Depends on the monitor. Most Free Sync or G-Sync monitors support either a Hz counter or at least an overlay which shows if G-Sync is active or not.
@Seth8086 Once again, I don’t want to be rude. All I stated is that G-Sync startet working for me the moment I toggled the developer console on and off. It’s still working, even after restarting the sim several times (and also rebooting the pc). I also stated that I don’t know if it has something to do with the developer mode, but that was the only thing that I changed. If it was something else that got G-Sync to work, it was something that I didn’t do myself.
As I’m not a specialist when it comes to MSFS, I cannot tell you what exactly happened, the only thing I wrote down here, is a description of what I did and what happened. I also know that it is unlikely that toggling the developer mode did anything to my problem, but it was (once again) the only thing that I did by myself at the point when it started working.
I can’t help you guys any further than that, sorry!
You can activate or deactivate the first one, but leave the variable refresh rate off. As far as I’m concerned this can interfere with G-Sync.
How can you determine whether or not G-Sync is working?
If you have stutter try without v-sync because with v-sync your fps can go to very low to 15fps.
Enable g-sync and save changes.
Click display and select > g-sync compatible indicator.
ps.
In ncp and game vsync must be off and FPS not below 30.
Thanks. I have v-sync on in MSFS. I will try it off. How can you tell if G-Sync is working?
I have g sync working on my config.
Monitor Alianware 3420. Shows the frame rate and the GSync sign as mention above does show up on my screen when starting FS2020. I have gsync enabled via the Nvidia config screen and setup in window en fullscreen mode.
