Cant get past first loading screen after update

Hello, firstly i’m not sure this is the right place for this post, so please direct me elsewhere if so.

tried to boot FS2020 today, and it just wont load past the screen shown in the picture. i’ve tried leaving it to load for 20 minutes but still it wont leave the first loading screen. i’ve no mods. i had vPilot installed so i can play on the VATSIM network, but i have since uninstalled it but still it fails to get past the first loading screen. weirdly, when i right click on the FS2020 icon in my taskbar and close window, i can still hear the game music and the game continues to run in the background, unless i shut it off with the task manager.

FS2020 normally runs absolutely fine on my Ryzen 5 2600 and Radeon RX580

Please help! I just wanna go flyin’…!

Same here and I just did a complete re-install. Before that, I removed all 3rd party mods including Weather Force and liveries. I cannot get past this screen. My rig is pretty much top of the line. I’m running an Intel I850K and RTX 3080 with 32gb of ram. I originally thought it was a problem with NVIDIA drivers, but clearly not the case. Hopefully, Asobo can drop some insight.

My system (although not as tasty as yours) runs it absolutely fine normally. Glad i’m not the only one having trouble.

Exact same thing for me. I am trying to download the new update, but it will not let me get pass the loading screen.

I cant get pass this screen.

It appears you’re getting further than me.

It just keeps on loading and it wont let me get pass that screen.

Guys, I tried something else and it took me past this screen. But, you’re not going to like it lol. I completely uninstalled the game but unlike before I also deleted the appdata files. It should be located in users/username/roaming/microsoft. Then just restart the PC, go to Microsoft store or where ever you purchased the game and download the installer. I’m patiently waiting for ALL 153.16 gb to download :expressionless:

Will update as soon as it finishes.

I will try that

Mine appears to be updating now and operating properly. it might not need a fresh install…yet.

I’m stuck on this screen after many attempts. It seems to keep trying to download but fails, keeps going back and trying again stuck in a constant loop.

When you realize playing this simulator is harder than being an actual pilot lol.

This happened to me too. I’ve already done the initial update when I run the sim the first time, and I went to the content manager to download the rest of my contents. Then I leave my PC to let it download itself, by the time I was back it was on my PC lockscreen. It looks like my PC crashed to BIOS and reboots while it was downloading the contents and for some reason it might be corrupted. Because when I run the sim again after that, I was stuck in that “Checking for Updates” screen.

So I’m doing a reinstallation of Windows and the Sim, and I underclock my GPU and set my graphics set to Low so it would be more stable as I download the contents from the manager.

Mine is saying I need to reinstall without letting me… I booted to update, said I had to update through microsoft store (???) now it wont start and wont let me do anything. I am tired of forced updates, I am about to go back to FSX and just be done with Asobo all together

Update: Mine is up and running again…even with the mods that I have. Not sure what the issue was but the fresh install seemed to do the trick–for me, at least!

Hi
Experienced the same issue today. A short “Sync Screen” popped up but stuck after almost 60 minutes inactive at 0% sync. Then I stopped the action but afterwards the FS start screen hung exactly at the same stage as yours.
Asobo doesn’t react nor gives any update info on this issue what obviously pops up far more often as to be seen as single incidents. This is no way to handle updates.

Mine seems to be updating now. I logged in and out of Microsoft Store and also turned off my Firewall on Avast Antivirus. So maybe it’s the Firewall causing issues.

What is meant by “seems to be updating now”? Did you succeed to download simple 26.x GB before your system “seems to be updating” or did you meant your system “seems to be downloading”?
An update download of 26.x GB is already a challenge (we’re not all connected to fibre networks with unlimited network usage contracts) but a silent update, without any sign of a software being busy to update properly is more than a challenge, it is a product design disaster.

Allright, I renamed both the flightsimulator.cfg as well as the USRcfg.opt in order to have FS rebuidl both files after start of game. Also, I checked in the MS Store on my library if updates were available and I found an update on game.services not telling what had to be updates for which problem but it installed directly after opening the tab. Then, after starting MSFS again, the initatingUK scenery screen opend as your screenshot showed and in the lower right corner, the itirating circle started to turn for a while and see there, it continued the starting procedure, looking for updates, showing new scenery etc. as usual. Game is running again and so far I did not encounter new problems.
Nevertheless, the whole way of handling this product is miserable and f.e. the installation manager doesn’t allow for managing anything at all, so one cannot pick and choose mandatory or optional update packages in order to “manage” the size of downloads, spreading of download time etc. Not a smart way at all for something anno 2021.

Did you originally download the sim through the MS Store? Because if so, that’s the correct way to initiate downloads to the core sim. Then you download feature updates from within the sim itself, and (I’ve just found out) then go to the Content manager to install the features(!)
