I constantly fly to the localizer but never seem to capture it or the glideslope. I’m on vectors to intercept but miss it every time. Help?
What A/P button are you selecting for the ILS?
When cleared to the arrival, I check the LOC frequency. When given vectors to the ILS, I click on the LS button and the GS button. I also select the LS display mode. I also make sure my speed is correct as well as the flap settings.
Ok, as well as selecting it on your navigation displays, only use the “APPR” button.
Make sure you intercept the ILS below the glideslope, and preferably on a thirty degree or less angle
I’m using FShud ATC which vectors you to intercept. From charts, it appears I’m at the proper speed and altitude. I’ve tried by only checking the GS but get the same result. BTW, if I ignore the finals and fly direct to an IAF, I can intercept and land fine. Thanks for the reply.
So as you would probably be in heading mode (as you were being vectored), as you approach your intercept point, ensure you turn and are at a 30 degree or less angle.
Otherwise you may overfly or have the AP make large bunch of S turns trying to establish the airplane on the ILS’s localizer.
