Can't see enough of the instruments in the Guimbal Helicopter on a triple monitor setup

Hi all,

Does anyone fly the Guimbal heli on a triple monitor setup here? I guess my issue relates to single monitor as well, been so long since i used a single though.

In the Guimbal, no matter where I set my position in the cockpit, I can’t see the instruments, maybe just the top two, is this normal?

I have a Tobii Eye Tracker 5 but find with the triple setup it’s less than useless really. At present I have resorted to using the screen instrument display but it’s less than optimal really.

In the past, I had two touch-panel screens which showed the instruments but since getting a motion rig and also using other sims like ETS2 these panels just get in the way. I don’t mind moving the camera view for setup & startup but in flight the main pack just isn’t visible?

Any tips or is this normal?

I’ll try switching to a GA plane shortky but I have a feeling things will be the same.

Could you post a screenshot of the issue you are seeing when using a single monitor ?

Not tried it on single but here is my view in triple (when seated the horizon is straight)

Default pilot view on a single monitor setup:

I would say you should get something similar with a multi-windows setup.
Hopefully some users will be able to provide some advice.

Title updated to reflect the issue is with a multi-windows setup

Hmm, maybe it’s to do with a multiple setup?

If I shift my seat lower to get that view, the analog compass on the screen above the console disapears. If I sit up but look down, the instruments look better but the horizon on the sides is terrible.

I would say so since on a single window view looks good. Maybe some users with the same configuration will see your post and can assist.

I mostly fly helis and even with triple I also have the problem that I don’t have enough vfov (and TrackIR is not working in very immersive way)

This is why I decided last year to make the jump into VR with the Quest 3.

There is no coming back now for me. Especially as it is also much easier to fly heli with the 3D vision.

I fully agree with that, VR is the bees knees of sim life, I have used it, with a HP G2 then a Quest 3 and latest a Pimax Crystal Light. The problem is my right eye does not want to play and even with lens inserts I get a terrible pain in the eye muscles after about 30 minutes.

My optician advised that it was severe eye strain and also advised to minimise the VR useage, a few weeks back I decided it wasn’t worth the risk and sold the Pimax, that is why i’m back on the triples - so glad i didn’t sell them when i went VR but boy do i miss that immersion level.

In VR I found my landings were 100% better as there was a sense of real depth of field and height you just don’t get in 2D but nothing else I can do really. :frowning:

I think overall the Pimax was the worst as they use such a low focal distance of about 1m i think it was, the Q3 was the best overall but still affected me.

I also feel that VR is quite an heavy stress on the eyes.

I went back to the C208B today, the best view i could get is shown below. It’s usable i guess but I really miss my two touch-panels for the controls etc, just no space for them with the motion rig :frowning:

If you only do flight sim, I would have the triple monitors attached to the rig. That way you can have all boxes, other screens etc…also attached without the fear of some bumps or crashes against the monitor. And more immersion.

For sim racing this is of course sifferent as the movements are more violents.

And usually you use latger bass shakers. And the vibration are not great doe the monitors.

Thanks for that suggestion but unfortunately i do also do a bit of Assetto Corsa and Euro Truck sim 2 plus a less amount of others.

I’m not sure the DofReality H6 can take the weight of triple 32” screens either TBH. It would be good though.
