Hello, so I just installed Windows 11 on a new computer, working fine.
Yesterday I installed MSFS2020 (I own the premium deluxe on Xbox store).
Started all right, said there was a 100gb update as usual, started downloading, it got stuck at decompressing the pilatus package. Ok. deleted the package a couple of times, restarted, no luck, always stuck at decompressing.
So I uninstalled the whole thing, today I reinstalled from xbox store, launched the game and cannot get to the update because I am asked to âinsert discâ.
I tried all troubleshooting that I could find in the forum but nothing works.
Is this a network problem on Microsoft side? I see there are issues with gaming now, but not with MSFS2020 in particular.
Thanks!
So:
I logged out of everywhere uninstalled and reinstalled everything including everything xbox and gaming services related. Then went into bios, checked time and date (they were correct), went into time and date in windows hit SYNC (they were already synced). And now it works. At least, itâs installing packagesâŠ
a note to make it easier in future: these two steps ( bios + windows ) are not necessary. Doing that Windows Time-Sync is sufficent, there is only one clock ![]()
Noted thanks! Actually I checked the bios and the sync time thing because I noticed upon first start of the computer that windows had the wrong time and the wrong time corresponded to wrong bios time upon restart. So just double checked!
I have noticed that if Gaming Services goes pear-shaped, even slightly, the game goes downhill fast.
I need some help please; I just updated the sim and now it saying I need to insert disk. I downloaded the sim from game pass and have never used the disk version so why is this happening?
Wow, I know the 40th anniversary harkens back to the old days, but asking for a disk is going a bit far!
As noted above, have you tried reinstalling âGame Servicesâ and âDigital Ownershipâ (or whatever itâs called).
If those two things are messed up, it wonât run.
It has been my (admittedly limited) experience that if the game goes bonkers and wants disks, or refuses to authenticate, I have resolved those problems by uninstalling gaming services and digital ownership, removing all the associated files, and reinstalling them from scratch from the Microsoft Store.
A refresh update (repair install) might be necessary to resync the game with the services and digital ownership reinstall.
A pain and something QA should have caught, but thatâs the way it is.
Thanks all. Turns out my windows clock was out of sync with the bios one⊠I mean it looked fine, time was correct, in both, but MSFS2020 thought it was out of sync. ![]()
