Can't sync data with the cloud right now.... lost profile not saving settings

Hi

I have randomly started to have an issue with flight simulator. Upon loading I am getting the usual splash screen saying " syncing data " then it comes up and says " can’t sync data with the cloud right now " with two buttons to keep waiting or stop syncing. If I click keep waiting it eventually loads into the game ( very slowly… ) then comes up with accessibility settings, then data streaming settings, then graphics slider settings. Once I go through all of this and get to the main menu all my progress and profile is gone.

Once I close flight sim and reopen after going through all the settings again I get the same error can’t sync and straight to the same settings setup all over again with profile lost.

I have tried all below potential fixes from these forums, and google:

Making sure xbox app and gaming services are up to date & flight simulator
removing gaming services and reinstalling using powershell
signing out of my profile in flight simulator and back in again
signing out of xbox app and microsoft store and back in again
rebooting PC
clearing rolling cache file
clearing scenery indexes folder
resetting and repairing flight simulator / gaming services / xbox app
going into services.msc and changing all xbox related services to " automatic " rather than manual

I cannot get flight simulator to load my profile or save any settings even if I wanted to set it up again.

I also tried loading flight simulator in xcloud ( cloud gaming ) and my profile and hours are all there so it’s not an issue with my profile sync online seems to work fine.

I have also read that reinstalling flight simulator may not even fix the issue. Does anybody have any ideas ? I have also logged a ticket with zendesk.

Thanks

Daniel

I also tried that as well, hasn’t helped unfortunately :frowning:

Could you please confirm if your PC is directly connected to the router via an Ethernet cable?
If so, have you tried restarting router?
Also, for testing purposes, I recommend temporarily disabling any antivirus software including your firewall.

Yes my PC is directly connected to a router via Ethernet cable. PC to the wall which is cabled to my garage to the router. I have reset the router thinking it could have been a connectivity issue. Even changed from google dns back to my providers default dns try as well but no luck.

I don’t want to suggest any drastic changes to your system now, so how about trying to connect using a VPN? If you don’t have a VPN you can download Urban VPN and select a location like UK or USA - or try Proton VPN.
Let me know if that helps.

Tried that too, I have Nord VPN no luck. Tried USA server, Hong Kong , Europe and where I am in Australia

Do you by any chance have an Xbox console? If so, could you check if the profile sync works properly on there?

I have an Xbox series x. It’s not installed on there though I can try that when I get a chance. I did try it through the pc cloud gaming and it worked fine my profile is there with hours flown etc. So must be my PC. I would assume the Xbox will work ok as well since the online cloud gaming way worked fine.

If you are still facing this problem, I (still) suggest this below:

Anyway, there are these two tutorials that I hope can be useful.

So it’s unfortunate but I have tried every possible provided solution by tech support. Nothing works, looks like I cannot play flight simulator anymore. I will not be buying 2024 as this is not acceptable. An update has broken my sim and nothing works to fix the issue.

Very dissapointing

Once that error comes up, what happens if you just shut down the sim and then start it back up.
I get that occasionally, and that seems to work for me.
I may have to do it a couple times , but after a few tries, it does connect.

shut down does reset settings some times for me :grimacing:

It will if you go past that pop-up.
It can also do that if you shut the sim down before it gets to the welcome screen.

Make sure you stop as soon as you see that popup.

how you close the sim,via the x or stop syncronice?
or taskmanager?

All I do is “X” it

sometimes even all 3 i get settings lost.
after lost next i use a other one,so save is not one for me.
this sim should ask before make changes itself!!!

For sure, it can be quite a nuisance!

I’ve tried shutting the error popup then letting the sim load which takes forever and has default settings asking me to setup every time I load the sim even if I save settings still comes up asking to setup everything fresh every time.

Also tried closing the popup then closing the sim with the x before it loads. And forcing end task before it loads. Even let it load and exit the sim properly through menus still same result and still the errors

Have tried absolutely every guide and tech support step known to man, from resetting and repairing to uninstalling gaming services the Xbox app and reinstalling. Even tried installing it under a local user account and same issues.

I can’t find any information about the system you have installed – is it Windows 10 or Windows 11?
