ISSUE DESCRIPTION
When starting a flight in career mode with the A32# family (A320neo V2 / A321LR), the mission’s flight plan that is automatically inserted in the FMGS at mission start often contains bad waypoints for waypoints with duplicate names (typically VORs) : the insertion service does not seem to support waypoints names being duplicated and seems to simply select randomly (or the first in the list?) the waypoint to insert, leading to broken flight plan.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
Very often when a flight plan contains waypoints which names are duplicated, typically VORs.
Encountered on A320neo (V2) and A321LR, I do not know about other Airbus aircraft because I did not purchase any in my career yet, will update accordingly.
REPRODUCTION STEPS
-
Start a flight in career mode with a A32# aircraft with a flight plan that uses duplicate waypoint names.
-
Check the F.PLN page on the MCDU for “outliers” waypoints (> 200-300 NM, see “KHM” on the screenshot below)
Workaround
- Check the F.PLN page on the MCDU for outliers waypoints, for each:
- Manually delete them (CLR → (waypoint))
- Manually re-enter them ((previous waypoint) → type waypoint name → NEXT WPT : if duplicates exist, the MCDU will prompt the user to choose one of them, check on the EFB the coordinates of the right one to identify the right one to choose (usually this is the one at the lowest distance)
