Career and starting second company

I am trying to start a second (cargo) company. I have plenty credits and XP. I also have certification for light transport (it’s green). Yet cargo company is not available - greyed-out. What do I have to do to be legible for it? Thanks

Oh. Good point. The company costs 10k. i thought that’s all I need. And I buy a plane later. I have 60k.
Also, there are planes I can “see” for sale for way more than I have. And all 172’s for sale are only passenger variants, no cargo .
Anyway, so I have to have a plane first before buying a company, right? I though this could be done other way around.

They could have done some explanation in the sim about the minimum aircraft cost being part of the requirement. We’re all learning it the hard way. To answer your last question, I think they walk you through buying an aircraft as part of creating a new company. It might be possible to cancel out of that and have the company but no aircraft (though I don’t know if this would allow missions to show up for that company on the map.)

I agree. Some explanation would be good. Thank you for yours though
Is it / will it be possible to employ pilots to fly the fleet? I can only fly one plane at a time :joy:

You also need the money for a used plane at least, which is about 200k for a cargo company. I had the same issue.

Yes in theory. The way AI “pilots” work is pretty odd and could use some quality of life improvements, but it also seems to be broken for the time being. I’ve yet to see someone confirm they’ve received passive income.

Fundamentally, how it’s said to work is that once you buy your second aircraft (requires you own at least two!) you’ll get a little tutorial about Crew. You can set “Crew” to On in the Manage Aircraft screen for one or both aircraft. When you fly an aircraft (specifically in missions, and not special missions, just regular ones), your unused aircraft will generate passive income that is paid out at the end of the IRL day, according to a dev. But I’ve never seen it work when I had two aircraft. I’ve since reset my career and am hoping it’ll do something this time. If it works, the way you would know is that you’d see a notification about earning passive income at some point, and you’d see it in your company financial history. The way it’s explained to work means that there aren’t really AI pilots you hire, they don’t really fly the planes from the sound if it (meaning they likely don’t move between locations, but I could be wrong), it’s more of a simple “When any unused aircraft has crew enabled and the player is flying a mission in another aircraft, generate passive income and pay it out at the end of the day.”

Curious if anyone can confirm they’ve seen passive income work. In my case, I had 2 companies, 1 plane in each. One theory I had is that I needed to have 2 planes in 1 company for it to work, but I doubt that’s the case.

In this era of AI, I’m really surprised this isn’t implemented better. Using AI, so much would be possible with always-unique passenger/dispatch script generation (no more repetitive typo and grammar-filled scripts), AI generated pilots for hire with personalities and traits who you could interact with potentially, the sky is really the limit and Asobo went with a very, very rudimentary implementation instead. With everything being streamed anyway, streaming the dialog from a curated large language model server is just a baffling thing to not do, but there’s still time to improve. If nothing else, it keeps the devs of BeyondATC and SayIntentions paid and happy!

Ok, awesome to see it’s not fully broken. Are there some criteria those of us who haven’t seen passive income from should know about? Did my explanation of how it’s supposed to work match your experience?

When I had two planes in one company the other plane never made any money, not while I flew in freelancer or employee mode.
After I sold it, bought a second company it started to work.
Now for the second day in a row it made it’s passive income.
Maybe it doesn’t work when you got more than one plane in a company?
However we would really appreciate if Asobo explained this feature in detail.

Thank you for this. really good info. I’ll try to keep an eye on this and test / figure out how this works. Once I buy a second plane

Wow! So much from just two planes? I’ll try to do the same

I started a second company (cargo) and things were going well until I bought a second plane. I bought a cargo Caravan, repaired everting so that all is green yet I still don’t have an option to use it. I have Cargo Medium certification but every time I start a cargo mission I only have the option to use the 172.
Am I doing something wrong?

Don’t know if this is related, but I purchased a DA-62 yesterday and was able to get one flight out of it, then they pushed some “fixes” to career mode, and since then I have the same issue, can’t select it or even see it as an option when choosing a mission.

Maybe it’s related but I had this problem for days now. Even before the update I could not use my second plane. Although then some of the condition was still orange

Even though I have a 172 and a Caravan only cargo jobs I can see are light. No medium. Weird

I can confirm that the passive income is acive but caution ive had 3 times where passive income activated and 2 pf those 3 they actually stole credits out of my acount. Once for -188,420 and the other for -240,650. So in my opinion its very bugged and id leave the crew option turned off until we get the big patch later this month.

I created a company based in Arizona and I would like to create my second company based in Europe. How do I go about choosing my new base?
As far as I can remember my base was assigned automatically, not sure based in what.

Thanks for reading!

I’m facing the same issue. do you know how to fix it?

Hi all,
I’m close to create second company but I’m not sure which one? Cargo? Airline?
