Career changing landing airport runway from the one in EFB to the opposite one

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: In career mode missions, I make a flight plan in the EFB and choose (leave the default) landing runway. But once I get near the landing airport, the mission thinks that I should land in the opposite direction with a very strong tailwind. This happens every day, but one day, it’s on a few missions, and some days, it’s on almost all missions.

im having a similar issue where the flight plan runway is changed by ATC, (plan says 02, they tell me to land on 20, i ask for 02 instead, they say land on 20) so i land on the directed runway 20, (I still declare over the radio im landing on the flight plan runway 02 for some reason like a ■■■■■) then get an “unauthorized landing area” hit. its enough to make me stop asking.

THIS, and its forcing a tailwind landing, really annoying, tried with and without force flight plan, same

Yes, I noticed this too while doing medium cargo missions. I was getting “Undesignated landing area”, until I realized that even though the sims own fly path boxes guided to correct runway (like in the flight plan in EFB), the mission details were showing opposite runway. I managed to correct this by notifying by radio that I’m landing to correct runway before landing and have not got this violation notification.

But yes. It’s a bug!

This is a problem. I am sick of being required to take off or land with a tailwind.
2 mitigations:

  1. Operate the aircraft safely and ignore the mission directions - never been too detrimental to my rep or income.
  2. For non-towered airports, certainly when landing, you can use the ATC panel to 'Choose a runway for landing ', and the mission panel will switch to the new choice. This is more effective that the apparently ignored EFB.

I presume the reason for the bad runway choices is something to do with a mismatch between weather conditions on the ground and at the time of generating the mission.

Just changed my runway while approaching (from ATC menu) to have wind from the front and mission objectives read the runway correctly. But just seconds before touchdown, the game decided that it was supposed to be opposite runway and got “Undesignated landing area”. LOL. But I still got S. :sunglasses:

I’m getting this too now I started my career over and started Light Cargo company I didn’t have this issue in my previous career (sight seeing company) Seems to be related to light cargo missions ???

Now almost every mission the arrival runway is wrong also ATC don’t talk back at all when arriving at destination the sim is forcing the opposite runway even when it’s tail wind direction

Been getting this along with others.
Pretty frustrating as you take a hit on your pilots rating due to this bug.

after the latest patch if you select the runway you intend to use and hit “update atc” in the EFB, you wont get a hit anymore. EDIT, SEE BELOW. Its the radio call that triggers it.

Ohh interesting! I’ll have ro try this later

Not for me I always file to ATC and constantly have this issue.
Edit: But on the other hand I see others can still talk to ATC for me ATC is not responding at all so…

ive been doing a lot of runway swapping latley as an experiment and ive found any chages are tied to that button. been practicing RNAV approaches during my cargo missions and if i call an audible during my trip, its ok as long as i file the change for me. now if we can get them to stop MOVING THE HOLD SHORT BOXES AS I ROLL INTO THEM TO THE OTHER END OF THE RUNWAY…

You file before starting the mission correct ?
I will do some testing too this is hella annoying bug
EDIT: OMG bro those hold short boxes are annoying AF every time just when you turn in they swap the hold short like wtf can you not see i’m taking this hold short !!!

not usually, no, i just yolo it and jump in. i do the approiach thinking in flight since i have time on the way. its not realistic, but ive got time then. but even if i do, ive found it always works now if you make a change, file the change and they are aware as it should work. NOTE. this is mostly in the 172

yeah, even if you call over the radio then enter… ///HIT\\ ENTERED WITHOUT A CALL. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

I’ve created a bug report about Hold Short changing to a different location, as I too am experiencing it. Seems more prevalent after patch 1.2.8.

I searched for a previously made bug report using the keywords ‘Hold Short’ and a tag for MSFS2024 and couldn’t find a report. Apparently there was one from a couple of weeks ago. So my report got merged into that one.

Upvoted yours too Thanks for making MSFS a better place

UPDATE: its the RADIO CALL, not the EFB that triggers the pass condition. I changed runways in the EFB, pushed the plan and it failed. but if i call out the proper runway when i see its callig out the wrong one, it changes the text to “land on (correct runway)” and you dont get a hit. So, keep an eye out for the discrepancy of you calling out the wrong runway on approach and final. It can be avoided. I landed on 18 when it called out 36. Had i called on the radio to correct it for 18, it would have been ok.

Wookie,

What about a VFR flight? Today, I flew a cargo VFR flight, left the default EFB route as default, filed it with ATC, loaded it into my avionics, and the flight was uneventful.

The plan called for runway 260 at destination, and the winds were out of 270 around 15 knots. All good, right? When the mission window prompted me to announce, I did, and again, all good. But when I landed on Rwy 260, I was told I should have landed on Rwy 8.

There was NEVER a mention of Rwy 8 anywhere, either in the EFB, or in ATC, or in the MIssions Comms window. What a frustrating experience.
