I didn’t try it myself yet, but can’t you do cargo at night when the mission has real-life weather (red dot on it) and it’s night-time in this area IRL?
I’m pretty sure i’ve seen a streamer flying these missions at night.
Live mode does work in some way, but very limited.
If you move the time slider, you will see some red dots appearing on some of the missions on the map.
These missions will have their start time adjusted to the slider position and can be flown with historical live weather (you can check there will be historical METAR data for the airport in the EFB).
But I never see any of the red dots for night time.
Why did we get night certified if there aren’t night missions? The missions should give you the option of operating in true real-world conditions, such as executing a mission at night. I don’t understand the point of getting night certified when there are no options to fly missions at night.
The problem is that many of the small airports and airfields these missions direct to don’t have night lighting. We couldn’t land at night because we wouldn’t see these tiny runways. I think night missions would be viable only for bigger airports, heavy, superheavy and airliner missions, and will probably be included when they are inserted into the Career as well.
But I am flying almost exclusively in career mode right now. Flying at night is a huge part of any aviation career, especially when doing cross-country pax and cargo flying.
The career mode could use some major boosts to realism.
You can make it night via the edit zulu time command but you’ll find that many airports don’t have lights, the landing and taxi lights on some planes aren’t modeled correctly, and the interior lights may or may not work. This seems to be the reason for them holding back on night missions for the time being.
The developers will either have to fix airport lighting at night, or redesign the mission generation system so that night missions won’t send you to airports that don’t have lights. I don’t think the current, quite random mission system would work at night. Also, you can’t have search & rescue missions at night either, or flightseeing because they don’t make sense, so having nighttime brings with it several other considerations. They have to get this right and honestly, the current mission system seems too generic and random for that.
I was really hoping career mode could be set to real time, but it seems like every mission always takes place around noon no matter what time you play.
It would be nice to have the option at least, and bonus if in the in flight tool bar like in 2020, so if we are approaching an airport with no lights we can adjust the time of day as a work around
Map a key to Set Zulu Day and it will set the clock to the real time. if it’s dark where you live it will be dark in the sim. Be warned most career airports don’t have lights.
Yeah, it totally suxx that basically no NIGHT FLIGHTS are included in CAREERMODE… at least i dit not find one… even when i am changing the time to night time and accepting missions, the mission time will go to a daytime… lol
I’d also like to see less small airport takeoff/landing and more actual airports with ATC and what not. I’m making the best of the missions we have but I’m tired of feeling like I’m delivering to a cartel out in the boonies. I’d love to go from KVNY to KSFO for example. Or my home airports (KWHT) to let’s say KSBA.
Set zulu time via key bindings when you are INSIDE the cockpit before taxi. I do it all the time and it is at least a workaround to get flying at night. Of course you should only do it on missions with destination airfields that actually have some lightning… sadly most of the medium cargo missions are cartel-like bush landings.
