so finally everything starts working great, career mode is going okay, i get a hair from superior status then the game bugs out after flying 2 hours at the hold short line.
beyond frustrating, if there was a save or something might be cool but reflying 2 hours due to ■■■■ bugs wow
game just went to lunch, you see ground crew moving about but everything else just frozen
ATC gave me a transition point for the arrival, I tried to change it on my flight plan (Visio jet) but for some reason charts in EFB or approach on the plane FMS disappeared and so were unselectable. (worked fine before takeoff)
I managed to do a direct approach, landed fine but here again, not bluebox on ground and impossible to finish the mission, even after landing safe and all VIP pax alive onboard.
The game should do an override when landed at the destination airport and at least allow us to finish the mission, instead of wanting us to fly over an invisible waypoint somewhere.
Anyway, the flight was beautiful and enjoyable nonetheless :
Sim killed the generator on plane I was ferrying 1 hour into a 1 hour 30 minute flight, so lost all avionics and comms. Even thought I plodded on to the destination, landed and parked up; mission would not complete because I was not able to change to the tower freq on arrival … because I had no functioning electonics
Was a great flight, and the lack of aids etc made it more fun … but to not get anything for it in a game mode that has already made me grind horribly after a crash when a controller battery died … I do feel like Asobo have got the balance and grind level for career mode out of whack … its a single player game for goodness sake, career mode at least
this is just sad.
i figure hey a bug get over it, i pick another mission, 2 hour long vip transport in vision jet
get thru everything, no faullts, land PERFECTLY at destination, follow blue arrows ANDDDDDD mission won’t complete.
Same here, but got an error message Unexpected Error a few minutes ago after a long flight while landing, reverting back to last known location etc. What was your issue ?
Most of the posters in this thread are way ahead of me in terms of career and reputation level. After trying career mode for several days, my reputation is poor and I have only a couple of certifications. OTOH, in 2020 I was able to set up and fly several airliners from cold and dark to parked at the destination stand with no trouble.
I admit I am not great at hand-flying GA aircraft. However, several of my missions have ended in low scores due to bugs in the sim:
Half-way into a ferry flight in a Pipistrel the electronics died. I landed safely.
On several flights selecting the right pattern entry was hard because the blue staples for pattern entry were pretty far away and several looked the same size (not a bug I guess but not as helpful as other aids given for the flight).
I followed the blue staples on approach in several flights and landed smoothly and safely only to be told by Big Brother that I landed on the wrong runway (presumably I should have landed in the other direction).
I crashed once before reaching the takeoff hold-short - no apparent cause.
Anticipating 2024 I was excited to explore the career mode. No longer. I just want to enjoy the experience, not deal with mounting frustration after hours of play in career mode. When PMDG gets the 737 and 777 into shape for 2024, my time in career mode will end!
I gave up on career mode over a week ago. I didnt want to get yelled at for excessive flaps speed sitting at the hold short line. And yeah. Flying 3.5 hours in a caravan to land and the sim just stops the mission with noplace to park. Or pressing quick reply over and over and still get dinged for not contacting atc. No thank you. Im supposed to be having “fun”
I’ve enjoyed career mode so far. I’ll admit, having been someone flying A320’s and other aircraft doing VA flights, I didn’t see myself as someone who would get into it and I’ll just continue what I know from MSFS2020, I instead have found the concept interesting enough that I’ve been doing over 100 hours in career.
However, the issues highlighted where you are penalised for not complying with certain things with it sometimes being out of your control is frustrating; more so when the game will not let you complete it until they trigger. ATC don’t always work in your favour.
My main issue is that I’ve now purchased aircraft that have no missions to use them on (Longitude) so hit a bit of a dead end. Indeed, it’s very much frustrating gameplay at the moment but I keep going back…!
Has potential but I have yet to find a bug-free mission. I was just expected to take the AeroElvira Optica up to cruise at 201,000ft
And battling the guaranteed crosswind landing in a constant storm is just too much ‘fun’ so given up on career mode until Asobo can get their act together and get the balance right.
Especially since it programs in some silly corkscrew approach half the time where the ‘pattern’ can include flying over the airport twice. Like it can’t calculate a decent into a traditional pattern entry.
I’m sure career mode will get incremental updates with each patch and get better over time but yeah, it can get pretty buggy.
I have purposely not advancing too quickly on my second career. I restarted due to the turbulence introduced when I got the VFR license and because Insurance wiped out my entire bankroll (before they fixed it)
Luckily I like GA and have just been doing light Cargo missions. I am not rushing to get to jets or airliners. I plan on playing this mode for many years to come.
