Career Mode, Maintenance, Crew... Where to start?

I am loosing my hope day after day.

Choose/Switch Controls takes minutes:

When I have to change the Controls it takes up to 1 Minute and 30 Second, I need ca. 3 minutes to just change the controls for my aircraft. I have created for all aircraft I use its own controls and I did set it as default for each aircraft. But still after restart I have to go to the settings, open the control page and then wait few minutes for only choosing the profile. Why in the world you stream even the controls? Instead of going flying, I have to spend 10 minutes only for selecting the right profile? I mean, sorry… speechless…

Career mode

I don’t know how some of you guys get many aircraft in career mode. Some of you have millions credits. It seems like Asobo wants us to enslave in the career mode to fly day and night and to become zombies. I can’t offer to fly 5 hours per day. When I fly 1–2 Hours, I am happy.

Career Mode is MEST UP thing. I maintenance both of my Cessna 172 and still it says, I have to do maintenance, even if I did, and it shows in orange.

I activate Crew ON and all what I got today was 29.000 credits even if I flew yesterday 2.5 hours. How in the world does this system the math?

The math should be: Does not matter if the player flies the dam-n aircraft or not, when you are out, it should still generate credits. Why in the world the player has to fly, so the crew might generate credits? If you share your real aircraft with other pilots, do you have to fly with them too, so they may generate real money? How stupid is this system?

In this case, I will never ever reach the credits for Cessna 208 B like as example or other aircraft worthy of trillion credits.

Just before 20 minutes I flew Skydiving in Italia, wonderful place but no ships, it was empty sea. From 7000-10000 feet the map looks ugly, after flying down to 4000 Feet the map became better again.

I am disappointed. Did they fix those bugs with the upcoming update? I doubt it highly. You know, it sounds like a myth or like conspiracy theory when you hear many gamers saying that we are the Alpha/Beta testers, and we pay to be testers, I laughed to them, but that’s 100% the truth.

I paid 260 EUR to test this alpha version of the new MFSF game. If I write here how and what I feel, Asobo will ban me forever, so I better stop here. I am not going to trust Asobo / Jƶrg any more, enough is enough guys.

When you start working on MFSF 2028, take your time and 1 year before release, let it test by your team or some beta testers and only then, when the game I polished to a good state, then release it. After 1 year testing only!!!

PS: And if you think, I will be pleased if you give us few aircraft for free, I don’t care, and I don’t appreciate that at all, I don’t want even your bugged aircraft. I mean, show me one Aircraft in MFSF2024 that works as it should?

Sorry, maybe I may sound toxic, maybe I am, but Asobo did a very bad job. Microsoft should search for other better Companies before starting even thinking about MFSF 2028 or what ever. Trying still to stay positive until …

Have you unlocked medium cargo missions yet? Those seem to be the best earners in freelance missions short of having a 737. Once you unlock the medium cargo missions and get a Caravan, you can earn typically between 900K - 1.3M credits per flight.

For passive income, I am finding that mostly small, cheap aircraft and lots of them are the best way to make money. Those with millions likely have fairly large fleets of cheap aircraft and multiple companies.

Oddly, unless it was a fluke, the type of freelance missions you fly to gain passive flight hours seemed to matter. I didn’t get near as much per flight hour when I did Skyseeing missions as I did for medium cargo, plus the reward payout is much better.

@DCSOne19878299 I totaly agree with you! i feel exactly the same! MSFS2024 is just joke and i lost lot of money because i bought new PC with RTX4080s i bought Tobii and it all only because of THIS game! and it occurred unplayable!!!

@Orestis1987 I can’t unlock cargo mission. i have everything unlocked but i just need to flight 5 cargo missions - ive never seen any… Currently i have 110h on Steam in MSFS2024 and recently i was able unlock second company (currently i have flightseeing and vip company - each with one c172). It’s because of bugged game. i wish to buy anything else plane but for me its impossible - there is no passive income (i got it twice), i cannot finish any mission now because the game is not recognizing i already landed, i have plane crashes because i probably hit some invisible trees or i dont know what else (now i use 3rd person view to taxi but still sometimes i crash my plane even if there is nothing next to my plane).
Im really frustrated with this game…

Passive income is only generated when you own at least two planes in career, and have crew activated on them. To get passive income you must actually fly at least one of the planes, and it will be calculated for the other one based on the real time you fly. You also get it only paid if you are not in Career mode at 00:00 UTC.

Did you fly for Cargo the first golden Mission in Madagascar to unlock it?

So if I used sim rate acceleration, also the passive income doesnt account for that and will calculate based on real time passed?

cargo light C172 → VIP vision jet → cargo medium (208/PC12)

each of these steps is about 7-10 flights.
using sim rate, each will be about 30mins (iirc)
(basically, sim rate = ā€˜skip’ the cruise without loosing bonus)

once you get to cargo medium, you’ll be earning ~ $1m cr per flight, which with no skip/sim rate can be about 30-40min.

as for passive income, yeah don’t bother…
Ive got 2x C172 and 1xVJ being crewed (basic insurance) and they just about cover my premium insurance on my PC12 ( about 98k / 1.5 hour)

I suspect they wont make a big difference until you have a lot of them…
I guess now, I could be buying one or two new C172 after every flight, so it might then work.

Ive no ideas why you need to change your controls… all of the above can use the same planes profile.

personally, I find the main pain point is the way missions tend to all want to go to tiny airports, and its a pain checking the weather (use free cam on mission briefing), to check its not blowing a gale force wind.

overall, Im still enjoying it.
I will say, I took a break from career mode for a while, as I bought the 208b (*) which was v. frustrating to fly. now I have the PC12 Im back to enjoying it.

(*) its very tempting to buy the used 208b for medium cargo to start earning better $, this is what I did - but if I had to do again.. Id avoid it.
just keep flying the vision jet VIP missions to grind straight to the PC12, as its a much better plane (and also the vision jet is fun to fly)

Ive no ideas why you need to change your controls… all of the above can use the same planes profile.

Well, I don’t fly only the Cessna 172. I will try to explain it short:

  • Every time I start MFSF 2024, it will load the default controls, which don’t match at all. I can’t fly with the default settings.
  • I start the mission, firstly I have to spend 5 minutes to set the correct profile for the Cessna 172.
  • If I want to change the aircraft for free flight for example, here we go, I have to choose the right profile for the other aircraft, again 5 minutes lost.

That’s the issue where I also go mad, and sometimes I hit ALT+F4. I have been very, extremely passioned and calm, but after +2 months this is the first game ever it destroy my brain cells. You know, if that’s a Ego Shooter, you just don’t care, but flying is for me very important, so I can’t simply say, well I don’t care.

I don’t know mate, maybe I have to switch to Xplane, have to look if they have those issues. Asobo is just the wrong publisher, I heard this very often, but I ignored it always, but it’s fact even.

Yes, I have unlocked everything possible there. To be able to buy a bigger aircraft, I need credits which I can’t generate so fast, because their career system is very, extremely dumb.

I have 2x Cessna 172 and maintained as well. So, where is the problem? Why I have to fly? That’s dumb logic, to be able to generate credits I have to fly. Nonsense…

Yes, that sucks.
I spent almost 7000 EUR for my whole setup, to be fair not only for MFSF 2024, i also fly DCS World and other games, but most of it for MFSF 2024 and purchased a lot of stuff for this what ever it is (Frankenstein). Oh boy… When I will learn from this, I guess never, and then I complain…

You also get it only paid if you are not in Career mode at 00:00 UTC

I am not saying this to you, but how dumb this even is? I did not know this thing at all. Who made such rules? Are they serious, or is this a bug?

Sorry guys but reading this, make me depressive. Asobo, are you kidding us here? I am trying to figure out this, wait:

Asobo rules, how to get paid:

  1. Fly many hours as possible
  2. Before 00:00 UTC get out of the career mode
  3. And we (Asobo) don’t tell you that, you have to find this out by yourself

I started MFSF 2024 just to look, if there i something new. LOL I got 8320 Cr. Then I looked at my 2 Cessna 172, it says to maintain, but there is nothing to maintain, I already maintained everything, that’s a joke.

That’s a joke, sorry… I can’t take this game seriously at this time.

To make money from passive income, you need multiple aircraft. Get yourself a fleet of small, cheap aircraft to keep the maintenance costs low (Cessna 172, Vision Jet, etc).

  • Make sure they are all Crew: On.
  • You need to accumulate flight hours in Freelance missions. Employer missions will not count for passive income.
  • The aircraft you use to fly a freelance mission will not earn passive income but you will get mission reward income, so choose one aircraft to use for freelance.
  • All other crew: on aircraft that you didn’t fly freelance missions with will earn passive income based on the number of freelance flight hours you accumulate over the past 24 hours.
  • The more company aircraft you have the more passive income you will get.

For example, lets say I have a Caravan, 5x 172s, and 3x Vision Jets. All aircraft are crew on. I will fly the Caravan for my freelance missions. If I fly 2 medium cargo missions for a total of 6 flight hours, then I will get 6 hours of passive income for all 8 of my other aircraft at the end of the day 12:00 midnight UTC.

My passive income will look something like this:

  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk #1 6hrs 112,000
  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk #2 6hrs 112,000
  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk #3 6hrs 112,000
  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk #4 6hrs 112,000
  • Cessna 172 Skyhawk #5 6hrs 112,000
  • Vision Jet #1 6hrs 147,000
  • Vision Jet #2 6hrs 147,000
  • Vision Jet #3 6hrs 147,000

My reward income

  • Cessna 208B Caravan 6hrs 1,796,000 (for 2 medium cargo missions)

Total Income: 2,797,000 credits

The more aircraft you have in your company, the more passive income you make because any freelance flight hours applies to ALL of those aircraft.

Interesting to see people are still trying to flog this dead horse. 2024 and esp career mode is a joke, I’m back to just enjoying 2020

So, I’m not on PC but XBOX, don’t judge me :stuck_out_tongue: I started career mode with sightseeing. Got the wanky 172 for the first aircraft, flew probably 20-30 flights a day (they only last about 20-30 minutes). Got up enough to get a G36, now we are cooking with oil. Could get an extra 4 or 5 in for the speed of the G36 compared to the barely 100 of the 172. After about 3 weeks, I had enough that I now have 4 G36’s for sight seeing, also now have a VIP charter with 2 G36’s in it. The problem is, I can’t buy any other planes. NO Cirus jet, no diamond back, no king air, nothing. Seems I can ONLY get a tail dragger and the 172 and G36. I even paid the whopping 130 bucks for the premium edition. G36’s are nice, but the charters are still 60+ minutes for one flight. Sometimes the flight grid will stay on, other times, get to fly by wire and pray you got your calculations right to land in a blinding blizzard with 50mph crosswinds. I know it’s been said somewhere else too, that when you land, the ā€œturn off taxiwayā€ is usually the immediate one after you start braking, which is unrealistic to do. So you go all the way down and hope it changes, or you have to turn around and go back. Sometimes, this gets you dinged for ā€œentering the runway without announcementā€. It would be great to be able to fly more than just 3 planes in career mode in sight seeing and VIP Charter, but alas, I’m just a crummy ol XBOX user so my 130 bucks doesn’t really count
