Career Mode - Please give us more missions & focus on our home base

Summary:

  • Give the home base a meaningful purpose
  • Dont force us to teleport around the world (not a very authentic career)
  • give us a bulletin board with many missions at every new discovered airport comparable to Euro Truck Sim 2.
  • let us establish fixed passenger or cargo routes with contractors
  • let us create new hubs at other airports like real airlines do

So far I had much fun with the new career mode and really love the idea, since I have always came up with imaginery scenarios when doing flight sim. The missions itself are very cool but I would suggest some changes regarding the mission generation:
I really thought through where I want to start my business/home base and already had an idea / scenario in my head on what I want to focus (cargo and passenger flights to remote villages in siberia). But as I have progressed in the career I find myself flying all around the world since most missions take place at fixed locations and you always get teleported to these locations. At my home base there is only one mission and the others take place at other airports of the region. But I had in mind flying from my home base doing missions and then come back. Why is there such a lack of missions? I would like to see a concept like in Euro Truck Simulator 2, which has a great career mode: You choose your home base and you will ALWAYS find plenty of jobs with different length, cargo, time window, skill requirements etc. And as you fly to a new city you get access to all missions starting from this new city which progressively opens up the world map for you. Also at my home base I would like to establish fixed routes with contractors and then use my planes and employees to fly that routes. Currently buying an own plane gives you even less missions and you always have to teleport your plane to other locations as your home base doesnt offer any jobs. Please consider taking an example of Euro Truck Sim 2 career mode.

Indeed, I don’t feel any connection to my chosen home airport. Maybe it improves when you start a company?

Very much feel the same. I struggled through long load times and crashes in maps and back to long load times to chose a perfect airport… only to have departed from it once for the PPL and once for the first first flight mission…

I have started my company and you need to specialize your company (which is great I think) and the plane you buy for the company is also bound to a certain mission type (so far so good & realistic as a cargo plane cannot handle passengers of course). But instead of increasing the number of jobs available to the specialization of my company the game still gives me only the same old missions from before. No new missions at my home base / company base, only random missions in the vicinity and at the other end of the world.

Thanks for explaining that.

Absolutely!:+1: I expected the home base to mean something

I completely agree. These are some very good suggestions!

yea - i don’t get how I unlock every cert, get to lv113, and have millions but I only get 1 airliner mission a day?

chosen homebase is only your starting location.

you don’t actually have a base in MSFS, it doesnt exist.
There is nothing in the sim which identifies ANY airport as your “home base”.

It only tracks your last location - which is set to whatever airport you landed at last. It’s your current location.

It doesn’t, because where you start doesn’t affect mission generation. If you start on an island, you probably won’t have any missions nearby at all.

Missions should be generated around your hub and/or where your airplanes are based. The way it currently works just creates pointless money sinks because we have to move our airplane around. And I really, really wish we could do the ferry flights ourselves!

I agree completely, I chose my home airport in Scotland to enjoy the scenery during the mission, but I’m hardly ever there :frowning:

I can’t say “THIS” hard enough.

Literally every career mode 3rd party addon did this. Why they chose to do what they have done for 24 is beyond me.

Every airport I land at should have a selection of various missions. Those missions should be filtered by whether my plane can carry the number of passengers/cargo, or is equipped for the mission type (like firefighting).

There should not just be 1 singular random mission at a few various airports scattered around.

It’s a real shame, too, because there’s a lot of advantages to having the career mode built in, especially for things like firefighting and search & rescue, but if it stays like this, people are just going to go back to using externals like onair that provide a much more intricate and engaging user experience.

The fact that you can’t even fly your own ****ing plane to a new airport to pick up a job is absolutely idiotic to say the least.

They could have hired me to be the game designer for career mode for pennies on the dollar of whatever they paid the actual designer and we all would have gotten a much better experience.

I think Microsoft/Asobo want to show off the world so there are random missions all over the place and are perhaps a bit worried that people will get bored doing all their missions in the same area. I went from doing a couple of first flight missions at my home airport to being forced to do a flightseeing mission in Venice before I could move on. I think the best solution would be to offer both options, so that we can either play more realistically regarding the position of our aircraft, or just dart around the world as is currently the practice.

Very, VERY much this. Every airport should have something to do! If we want to set up a cargo company and fly mainly around our local area, that should be an option, IMO.

That’s fine. The employee missions can stay how they are. You can fly someone else’s plane wherever it is all over the world like it is now.

Then when you own your own company, it should change to what I said above, in my opinion of course.
