Career Mode Sandbox Option - Make Missions Available as option in Free Fly

I think people are making wrong assumptions.

Perhaps, which is why I made a conditional statement. Hopefully it isn’t true but that code isn’t promising.

Yeah it’s very possible I saw something from the SDK or “SimCredits” versus career credits. BUT, I’m still skeptical that the lack of missions outside of career mode and the apparent brutality of the grind if you crash your plane once in career mode isn’t an open door for them to offer up credit packs in the form of microtransactions.

It’s not code. It’s a screenshot of some Steam stuff. I explain it in another reply. Check it out. I don’t think microtransactions will happen.

I think 2 things happened:

  • They didn’t think this through. I told them directly at the Grand Canyon event that people would want to have the ability to play the missions without having to go through that process. And I wasn’t the only one.
  • They didn’t have enough time to make any changes

I am hoping things will change. And I am hoping this thread will show them that the community really is behind the idea of not having to go through career mode to be able to use the new mission features.

Developers have looked at this and mentioned that it doesn’t look unusual as these lines are usually there for them to enable unlimited credits for them to test things during development. It is purely speculation on the original poster that tried to say about all these micro transactions. There has been no indication besides a random interpretation from a random user looking at some code and the word credits.

Just wait and see what happens. Not saying one way or another but the only person I saw that had any ounce of credibility was a developer saying it did not look out of the ordinary.

Those wondering it was on the flightsim Reddit page I saw it on.

I agree, locking all the fun stuff behind a grind is terrible. I’m happy for the inclusion of the career mode, and do plan on going through it all, but in the meantime, I don’t see why I can’t go fight a fire somewhere in the world outside of that.

When you’re planning a free flight from the map screen, you should be able to select whatever kind of mission you want.

it was worth it for asobo to bother making a career mode only for people to end up using a cheat to unlock everything in career mode…

I think it’s a shame that people want to use the ease of a game they bought for $80, $100, $140… it’s a waste.

Yes Free missions is a must…

I think the idea of making a career is totally cool for fixed wings, because…
That’s basicly what they can do.
However it’s the helicopter missions I have been looking most forward to, even without “gaining coins or money”, and that is a “totally other league” than any career.
(P.S. I still hope for that mission editor coming )

Oh im definitely not usinf the marketplace then because i can bet you this means we STILL wont have itemized receipts. Seriously it cant be that hard to do it if so many other games can do it

It literally is code. Maybe it’s not in the game files, but it may not have to be.

Edit: it’s referenced in the other thread, but I’m not getting into a semantic argument here about what code is either.

It literally is code. Maybe it’s not in the game files, but it may not have to be.

Can you show it, please?

If MS pursues the socalled Sandbox option, then the entire effort of MSFS2024, as any kind of a learning tool, has been an abject failure. It also shows a complete desire to short circuit all of the objectives of the game. Why would there be any reason to actually try to follow through inside the game? Especially when all individualism efforts, including a Leader Board have zero ability to focus on anyone achieving the top scores. I am pretty much beyond disappointed.

Because the title literally has the word “simulator” in it, not “game”. Allowing users to fly missions outside of the career mode takes nothing away from users like yourself, who want to follow the career path and earn their way to better missions. Some folks don’t have the time to grind through career mode and would love to just jump in and fly a helo hoist mission or a firefighting mission right away.

IRL you also dont start flying from the very beginning when changing the company you fly for. A lot of us have enough expierence fom former sims. I for myself did all Flighttraings and missions in FSX, have over 2000 hours logged in 2020 so why should I go through the whole career mode to have access to the intrsting missions. Especially when the career mode is bugged, could not fly my first mission: “request denied, airport currently is IFR”
I would appriciate the system of missions we had in FSX with the possibility to fly them in the aircraft of my choice.

Yes a Free Flight mission mode is THE way for hardcore and QUICK jump in flyers like me.
I love the career mode but NOT as an UNLOCK for Missions.
Doing missions at the end om my workday is what I want to see.
I probably do a carreer just for fun.
But my Career is jumping from helicopters to bush flying to bush airline pilot.
Not logged in to one. I use SkyPad for my paid mission path in which I use the Coyote path.
But I want to use all the mission capabilty for all the fun stuff with Bush and Helicopter piloting.

In any other sim I got (car sim games, but still) you can practice every “mission” (tracks in this case) as well as doing the full career from start to end.

It would also add to the chart table/leader boards.
Totally a win-win to allow us to use the missions outside the career (and yes, specially for helicopter pilots).

Agreed. Missions should be freely accesible.

This feature is amazing, even if I don’t need achievement and career data
