The new missions are a lot of fun, but I really dislike that they’re all locked away behind career progression and canned setups. It would be amazing to have the ability to select a mission and drop it as a pin on the free flight map, or the ability to randomly generate a mission while I’m free flight mode.
We need easier access to helicopter missions
This will never happen. The only reason for the absolutely brutal punishments is to sell credits later. We all know it’s true. There is even a marketplace option when you go to buy a plane in career that isn’t working yet, but I assume it will at some point.
I disagree. MS/Asobo misunderstood their players on this issue, but they are not that out of touch.
We don’t, really.
Except what most people are asking for is simply to be able to fly the missions outside of career mode. They are not looking for a “cheat,” they are looking for the same type of free-standing mission option that almost all other sim-type games have.
Exactly. This is what makes the HPG missions for helicopters so much fun in FS2020, for example.
And imagine being able to do that in the multi-layer environment that the sim already has, where you can cooperate with others on the same mission or co-exist in a virtual world with others flying their own missions.
yep, with the ability to walk around it would be amazing forn one person to fly up to a construction site and get out of the plane, the other person to fly in and deliver some cargo while being guided by the person on the ground or stuff like that. Having slingloads and other missions available in free flight would open up so many options
This right here is what we are talking about, we want the missions. Just make them an option to do in freeflight asobo
Mover was there with me at the Grand Canyon. He participated in the chat I had with one of the developers and he agreed that it should be optional back then as well.
By the way, I am the one asking this question during this joint interview with FSElite.
Happy to know you guys already told them, they knew beforehand this would be a thing. I’m a retired real life pilot myself and I just don’t see myself go through the entire career just to do the fun missions. They need to either give us a sandbox mode career where we can adjust what we want or make the missions available as an option in free fly.
Agreed! Casual simmer here. I’d prefer that. Not asking to remove the regimented version, just to add a variant of ease for those who prefer that.
Yeah but PC only likely. And not native, so another on to buy or manage. It should be part of the sim by default. For almost two years they said missions would be a thing but never once announced until late that it’s locked behind an intricate career process. They could attract more users if they knew upon buying and loading the game, they could CHOOSE to do career or pick ACTIVITIES section and do a limited mission type.
The way career mode was made is very interesting and quite good if that’s what you want to do. They should not remove it. It serves a purpose and it’s a great teaching tool and guide for those that may feel lost when entering the hobby.
We’re not defending the removal of the current system (although I think that’s how some folks are interpreting our request).
I never said remove it. I said add an easy mode for the end activities for people who want to do those fun things but don’t care about learning and running business. And second for sim we paid for but are cut out of options to enjoy.
Locking the missions inside the career makes as much sense as locking aircraft in there.
Wait for FS2028 when all you can fly after first installing is a Cessna 172.
Agree. It seems as if the aircraft availability comes down to them controlling the available features - nerfing them in the early stages, and being able to track penalties/deductions. Those are good for teaching the uninitiated (as long what it’s teaching is correct - which it’s not), and engaging players who want some sort of game-like incentive (as long as the objectives are clear and the penalty system is known and free from bugs - which it’s not).
I’m all for doing it free - remove the locks, fix the penalty system and let it give you a “score,” but don’t have it accrue anything unless you’re actually in career mode.
Almost every game has a skirmish mode that doesn’t count toward the progression of a campaign. Why not this?
I didn’t say you said that.
The “we are asking for options” is not entirely honest.
You have options. You can do career mode or not.
Let me try to reason with you logically to the conclusion of what you want to do.
What you are really asking for is to get the content of the career activity without doing the career activity. That, by logical reasoning will destroy the development of the Career mode in the future.
People will not work it as it is just the nature of people to take the path of least resistance to the reward. Then when no uses career mode, MS will drop the development and there will be no more missions or other interesting things added etc.
At best you will end up with another “activity” with no context, no structure, just an other free fly thing to do that once you did it once…its boring and no reward, no progression, no point to get better at it.
Hard No.
Career Mode is Career Mode.
It is not a “Mission” if there is no structure that it is within and serving a purpose to do.
When you take a mission out of career mode, its just an activity.
So what you are asking for is to make the core content of the Career mode a free access activity.
That will destroy Career mode. People take the path of less resistance; Career mode will have fewer people playing it and the development of it will end.
