Career Mode Service Patch Concern

I just noticed this post and would like some clarification regarding the following excerpt:
Reputation changes are now locked to your mission rank.

If you score an A rank and had S rank reputation, you can no longer go below A rank reputation.
If you score an B rank and had D rank reputation, you can no longer go above B rank reputation.

My interpretation is that if you make it to S rep then no matter how badly you fly you will never drop below A and conversely if you manage (all too easily) to drop to D rep then no matter how superbly you fly you will never ever be able to go higher than B. Please tell me that I’m wrong because if not then this will probably be the last nail in the coffin for me regarding career mode.

If I am wrong can we please get some further detail on exactly how that particular patch will work.

It was a bug where you could score A on ONE mission and regardless fo how firmly planted you were on S, you would derank all the way to D.

Which was a serious problem. So i think the patch is intending to make the rank far less erratic and weird.

It was possible to score and S on a mission, and still derank to D - and this is where you see where the problem was.

Hey @E1ephant42,

Well spotted and thanks so much for pointing this out. I’ve updated the patch notes sent to me for full clarification on this:

  • If you score an A rank in a mission and had S rank reputation, you can no longer go below A rank reputation for that mission.
  • If you score an B rank in a mission and had D rank reputation, you can no longer go above B rank reputation for that mission.

Thanks again,
The MSFS Team

Can you explain the issue with Freelance missions?

Now the game stated a 500nm mission in FREELANCE mode costs 24k. not 500K or whatever.

You cant seriously be paying 25K for Company cargo missions now?

This is a freelance mission:

If this is true - then why even start a company?

That’s all fair and well. But still no Missions for the Citation Longitude that I worked my ■■■ off to pay 7.4m credits for?! I’m getting pretty ready to throw in the towel with 2024, if I’m honest.

You should re-read the annoucment: particularly the bit about how the NEXT update fixing the contract payout being correctly displayed.

@Chewwy94

It’s strange to me that putting a maximum on the drop/increase is the solution rather than fixing the massive drops and increases themselves. Why was this the solution as opposed to rebalancing it so it actually makes sense?

To be clear it seems like you all are fixing a symptom and not the problem causing the symptom.

Ok thanks for the clarification, that makes more sense and it certainly is an improvement on the current situation, but I agree with the post by @GaugeForever above, this fix is a bandaid and I can’t help wondering what else is lurking beneath the scab to “infect” us. I know the team is well under the pump right now but I do hope that they will eventually dig deeper and provide a more comprehensive overhaul to the whole reputation system. TBH I would not be at all upset if they decide to scrap everything to do with reputation, it seems far too arbitrary and random for my liking.

Yeah, the fact that you could fly a hundred missions with S rating then have an off day and be sent down a whole level or two after one bad flight seems to be more of the issue here
