Career Mode softlock during tutorial – “New aircraft to purchase” popup cannot be selected

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

I am completely stuck in Career Mode on PS5 due to an interface softlock.

The tutorial starts automatically as soon as I enter Career Mode. I follow the tutorial normally until it takes me to the “My Companies” screen.

Once I reach this screen, a “New aircraft to purchase” popup automatically appears on top of the Career Mode tutorial.

The problem is that the controller focus remains on the tutorial interface behind the popup. The tutorial is waiting for me to press “Next”, while the “New aircraft to purchase” popup also has a yellow “Next” button.

However, I cannot move the controller focus to the yellow “Next” button on the popup. The game continues to select the tutorial interface behind it.

This creates a complete softlock: I cannot dismiss the popup and I cannot continue the Career Mode tutorial.

I have tried restarting the game and the PS5, using the D-pad, both analog sticks, R3 and R1 + L3 cursor mode. Nothing allows me to select the yellow “Next” button.

I have also tried progressing through the tutorial as quickly as possible before the popup appears, but the popup appears too quickly for this workaround to work.

Because the tutorial automatically starts whenever I enter Career Mode, I am effectively unable to continue playing Career Mode at all without resetting my progress.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time. The issue occurs every time I enter Career Mode and reach this part of the tutorial.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on PlayStation 5.
  2. Enter Career Mode.
  3. The Career Mode tutorial starts automatically.
  4. Follow the tutorial until it takes you to the “My Companies” screen.
  5. A “New aircraft to purchase” popup automatically appears over the tutorial.
  6. The controller focus remains on the tutorial interface behind the popup.
  7. It is impossible to select the yellow “Next” button on the popup.
  8. The player cannot dismiss the popup or continue the tutorial, resulting in a complete Career Mode softlock.

Go into your avatar if I recall. Somewhere behind that is the CAREER MODE reset button. Try that

Also try clearing your cache first in safe mode. Unplug all peripherals, press start button from off and wait for 2nd beep. Follow instructions on screen from there

But won’t I lose my career progress if I reset it? I’d rather not have to start everything all over again from scratch.

Yes, sadly. But if you can’t play it anyway because it is softlocked do you have a choice?

If you first try to empty your cache that might fix it. Also try disabling any addons temporarily.

If that doesn’t work you could ask Zendesk to look into it but in my experience they are not usually helpful with career mode.

After that you might be forced to start over. Unless someone else has an alternative option.

I understand what you mean, but I already have several hours of progress in Career Mode, so I’d really rather not lose everything and have to start all over again.

Also, the main issue seems to be a UI/interface problem, not an issue with my career save itself. The tutorial window appears on top of the interface, and I’m unable to select the yellow “Next” button underneath it with the PS5 controller.

So even if I reset my career and start again from scratch, I’m afraid that once I reach this exact same tutorial step, I’ll just get stuck again for the same reason.

That’s why I’d really like to find a way to get past this screen rather than reset my entire career.

I have been having the same issue. Contacted support and they said to connect a mouse then I was able to click next using that.
