Career Mode Unexpected Error 308-1006-00000 & 309-1006-00000

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

An unexpected error appears during a career mode mission with one of the following error codes:

Medium Cargo / Private Transport: 309-1006-00000

Passenger Transport / VIP Transport / Medevac: 308-1006-00000

I suspect this issue most likely affects all modes, as employee or freelancer.

This “unexpected” error occurs randomly. I’ve received it before pushback, during taxi, and in the middle of a flight. I ensured no community mods were installed and still the problem persists.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Often. I’ve rarely been able to complete any career missions since this issue started appearing.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Unfortunately, I don’t have useful information to share, except for the obvious.

  • Start a career mode mission matching any of the aforementioned modes
  • Play the mission
  • Observe random unexpected error

The same problem. Career mode totally unplayable.

I have bought this game for Career Mode, but this bug breaks the game. I am about to ask for a refund, it is so frustrating.

Same here. It happens on about 90% of missions for me now. Unplayable :frowning:

My temporary SOLUTION: Disable in Windows Defender the MSFS 2024 - after a 5-hour session, not even one unexpected error 308 & 309 (any error). I am not sure, but I suspect this issue is related to the MSFS server disconnections.

PS: I am using steam version btw.

This, unfortunately, didn’t work on my end. I tested this morning with Windows Defender on, and got the error about 10 minutes into a mission. Closed the game, disabled all Windows Defender options under Virus & threat protection settings, relaunched the game with the same mission, and got the error about 15 - 20 minutes into it. I’m also using the Steam version.

I suspect the same. Sometimes, if I immediately back out to the main menu after the error, the Career tile is “locked”. This seems like an intermittent problem communicating with the backend server responsible for all things career.

I got sick of this 308 and 309 error. I asked for a refund. /micdrop

I am starting to consider a refund myself. It’s unacceptable that this is keeping on since over 2 weeks and nothing is being done about it.

Which region/country are you all in? I am in the EU/Poland. I am wondering if it is the reason.

PS: I have played too much MSFS 2024, and Steam won’t refund :money_mouth_face:

Also EU/Poland. Kind of weird if that is the reason. I am trying a different network now to see if I will also experience a crash.

Steam will only refund quickly if you have played up to 24 hours. You will have to either compile a bigger report with evidence of game-breaking bugs towards Steam or go via the deputy for consumer rights. I have read a Reddit post where somebody stated they had success with that.

Same issue haven’t been able to complete a single flight unless I skip, and even then its 50/50

also in EU/Poland region

US/West here, so this issue probably isn’t specific to a region. :frowning:

I was stuck with this random Career Mode error 308-1006-000000 for like 2 weeks. It would happen at totally random moments (taxi / mid-flight / after landing… no pattern). Tried the usual stuff, nothing helped.

Turns out my Windows time sync was broken/disabled (Windows Time service wasn’t running), and that can mess with online auth/session stuff.

Quick check: open PowerShell and run:

w32tm /query /status

If you see something like “The service has not been started (0x80070426)”, that’s probably it.

Fix (worked for me):

Open PowerShell as Administrator
(Start menu → type PowerShell → right click → Run as Administrator)

Paste this:

sc config w32time start= auto
net start w32time
w32tm /resync

Go to Settings → Time & language → Date & time and make sure:

Set time automatically = ON

Set time zone automatically = ON (or set correct zone manually)
Then click Sync now.

Restart your PC (don’t skip it).

After reboot, you can re-check with:

w32tm /query /status

Since doing this, Career stopped throwing 308-1006-000000 (so far). Hope this helps someone because this error was driving me insane

really frustrating after 2 hours flight and this happens!!!chatgpt says it is sim rate related as I have increased my sim rate X 2 so this creates a sync failure for time on the plane and the server…

I will check mine, thanks

It works! Second day - so far so good. You, Sir, have all my gratitude.

EDIT: Each time I open a computer and want to launch MSFS 2024 I have to open PowerShell as Admin and run the above command:

sc config w32time start= auto
net start w32time
w32tm /resync

Mocno pozdrawiam z Warszawy

No dice. :frowning: I followed these instructions exactly and still got the error. Would love to know if this worked out for more folks.

My w32tm /query /status after the reboot seemed odd since it referenced the local CMOS Clock as the source and the leap indicator was status 3 (not synchronized), so I called another w32tm /resync and then the sync status looked OK. Still got the error after trying again, though. :skull:

That sounds like there are still PC time sync issues. Those instructions were essentially ensuring it’s set to automatic, if you are having to /resync after the reboot then it hasn’t fixed the underlying sync failure.

Synchronised time is integral to a lot of auth systems (authenticators, anticheats, DRMs etc), they fail or become erratic.

Got it today on a agricultural appliance rotorcraft Mission:
