Career passive income - Does the crew only take mission from the airport the plane is located at?

If crew is set to ‘on’, do they take available missions in the vicinity of the available plane or do I have to manually transfer the aircraft to an airport that does have a suitable mission available, in order to make the crew use that mission while I fly my own mission?

In the case of the former, does vicinity mean the uncovered radius around the plane?

If I uncovered all of the USA and my VIP plane is stationed on the east coast, will my crew use it for a mission on the west coast, if all the land between is already uncovered?

Or is the map and its mission irrelevant for the crew in terms of locality?

I ask, because my crew doesn’t seem to take missions, only one aircraft did, while the other 3 did nothing.

so far it doesn’t matter where the aircraft are located I guess. getting same income for same aircraft type. As long as they are maintained.

Passive Income is generated based on the ‘tier’ of the plane and hours you have spent flying in career. So if you have 5 planes and flew 1 plane for 8 hours, 4 crewed planes will accumulate passive Income based on the type/tier of the plane multiplied by 8 hours. Price of the plane or the cargo capacity, or speed, nothing is counted into equation. They took the easiest way possible. Additionally, even if you have Cessna that costs ~500K and Asobo 340 that costs ~11 million, it doesn’t mean that Asobo plane will generate 20 times more income than Cessna. Cessna may generate 80K-120K, while Asobo 340 only meager 500K-600K, even though it supposed to be 1.6 - 2.4 mil.

So, if a plane has a condition that states “Need Maintenance,” it means that the Crew won’t be flying this Aircraft until its fixed?

Yes, you need to go through all the sections and make sure that none of them are sitting at less than 40%. Flight Controls for example, often may sit at 30% as green, but the plane will be considered as needed maintenance. So you fix those flight controls and the second section as well and it should turn to GOOD condition. Planes can only fly fully in Good condition.
