Career, Runway U Turn

Seriously this is the 3rd time I have failed to make a u turn on the runway, because there’s not enough turn circle on half these plane, I end up parked against a tree.

Use pushback. Annoying, but works.

The more annoying thing is when you turn at the end, and the “extra” bit of runway counts as taxiway, docking you points…

Did you try using differential braking while you were turning?

I also use push back. Currently flying PC-12 and it can make very tight turns but still, have to use PB quite often.

Bind a key to your left brake then hold that key when you do your U turn from the left.
Or, do a short field take off without heading back to the start of the runway beforehand.

Forgot all about pushback, lol
Cheers all.

Some backtaxi runways have “turnouts” that might consist of anything from a little extra pavement to a full-on loop with hold short lines. I’m not super confident that the AI knows how to utilize these. The extra pavement-type runways generally do not have any taxipath nodes that define them, so they’re entirely ignored by the AI.

The loop/hold-short type sometimes have nodes (sometimes not) but the AI has trouble with them, especially if there’s another hold short prior to the runway. It basically ignores one or the other hold short - I’ve never seen it acknowledge both. Done correctly, you should hold short prior to entering for backtaxi, leave on the loop and announce clear of the runway, then hold short again and announce prior to re-entering.

In both cases, when I’ve encountered these in the World Hub, I’ve tried my best to implement them, but the AI still does AI things.
