No, the standard 182 comes with O-470 whereas the normally aspirated 182 RG has a O-540. Both are carburetted. New normally aspirated 182s (182S and 182T) come with fuel injected IO-540.
Fantastic plane! Visually all you ever expect from Carenado, and then some. Sounds and Flight characteristics are very convincing. Iām gonna fly this a lot for sure. It simply feels a complete package.
On the negative side, Iāve found the ground steering to be a bit odd, and the front strut bottoms out when braking.
Lovely plane really. Highly recommended!
It would be nice, indeed. They seem to respond on Facebook, and they respond to support tickets (I sent in some comments on the 337). So theyāre not quite unreachable.
I will probably release a āBetter Camerasā Mod for the C182 RG tomorrow. Havenāt had time to fly her.
I would appreciate itā¦
Thank you for this! Do you have the marketplace WT530 installed? I thought I was supposed to uninstall it once it went official but it seems like Iāve lost it in a lot of aircraft.
Carenado is a small team, so Iād prefer they spend their time developing and fixing rather than engaging in conversation with customers. Talking with customers is definitely good PR, but in the end it affects a few hundred people reading a topic when these planes have thousands of sales in the Marketplace. Itās a heavy use of time resources for a fairly minimal return.
As far as bugs discussed in forums, itās fooling to post an issue in the forum and assume a third party dev is going to address it because of that. When you encounter a problem, the priority should always be to file a ticket with the developer. Posting to let others know about potential issues or seek solutions is fine, but letting the dev know directly is critical. Iāve filed issue and gotten confirmation responses from Carenado.
The number of people who read forums is tiny compared to the number of Marketplace users. Otherwise MScenery wouldnāt be bothering to release airplanes.
I do have the marketplace wt530 installed, but it seems like for this and all the other carenado aircraft, one is required to make those panel edits.
Carenado got back to me on the reported Autopilot working without power issue, as well as my observations with the transponder. They will address the AP in an update, as well as a typo on the transponder. I asked about making the ident light flash intermittently when on or in alt mode, and they said the logic is same as the default Cessna 152 so they are unable to do so.
I also observed floating points of light ahead of the aircraft for the taxi and landing lights, along with the beams (in bad weather) projecting from those points rather than the modeled lenses. I advised Carenado and they acknowledged that they will look into it.
I have not brought up any additional concerns as to not flood them with issues, but perhaps someone can report the nose gear compressing maybe a bit too far when braking?
One issue for me, when ILS freq selected there is no DME readout that I can see. Fine with VOR.
In a crosswind the plane is affected by it greatly, but even with a tiny bit of speed itās like it disappears. You are right, it does feel odd.
Itās a flaming hot mess. Here are my findings:
I believe that like a number of developers, Carenado representatives used to post on this forum in the early days but left because of the abusive treatment they received.
I feel like a rivet counter, but the two white digits on the Hobbs meter bother me. Usually only the 1/10ās digit is white, I believe. And now that I know the transponder light isnāt flashingā¦ I am enjoying the airplane quite a bit, though. Glad to have it in the sim.
I agree, great airplane. Enjoying it, as well. And the extra white digit is the 1/100th counter. You donāt see it as often but itās legit, just a different style of tach.
But it is not. The digits arenāt changing fast enough. Iāve got about 3 hours flying and the leftmost white digit shows 3. If it were 1/100ās, the last digit would be changing very quickly.
Yep, youāre right. Iāve finally flown it long enough to notice it too. Wrong tach for how itās counting the hours.
Has this plane also detailed cables and tubes below the instrument panel? When moving the camera down to the rudder pedals? Like the C337 has.
