Very happy to have my Mooney back finally. It’s been a long time for it collecting virtual dust. Had it out on a few all manual VFR flights and it flies like a dream. And of course, a couple of longer range IFR flights complete with ILS and RNAV approaches. Everything seems to be working as expected. And the transponder seems to work as it should now too.
Just took the Mooney for a shakedown cruise after the update. Everything is so much simpler now. The autopilot doesn’t try to kill me, and the transponder works with my Saitek Radio Panel as well as ATC. I’m guessing the transponder will also work with ATC events, but will need to wait for one to test that out.
Has anyone with the Steam version of MSFS been able to locate the docs for the M20R? None of the paths that people have posted up to now exist on my machine, and I’ve searched several of the most likely spots and come up with nothing.
The closest thing I do have is C:\Users[profile]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SimObjects\Carenado_M20R_Ovation – but all that’s in there is ‘state.CFG’.
Here you go: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dmtXAIdkdNIndYg0rFyF_mxnQqe9eJjf/view?usp=sharing
Note that there’s more there than just the Carenado docs in that file, I’ve also put in a real POH and GNS530 reference guide. To use just unzip wherever you find convenient.
I also strongly recommend the GNS530 mod that @ScorpionFilm422 created, that you can find here.
Any chance you have a link to that thread?
I think there is a command to set your transponder in VATSIM, but I might be wrong though.
.x 1234 in vPilot to set the transponder to 1234
Thank you! Don’t know why none of those got installed for me. And yes, I’m already using the GNS530 mod but thanks for mentioning.
They probably did, but I copied them into a convenient place, and it was easier to just zip them all up and post a link than finding the original location that wouldn’t even include the actual POH or Garmin documentation.
Oh, and you’re welcome…
I can confirm that the transponder in the panel also works for pilot2ATC. Well, the code works, but not the Off/Standby/On/Alt functionality, but I think that’s a bug with p2A, as it happens with every plane I’ve tried. And there’s an easy workaround. I’m sure they’ll have that fixed in their next update, I don’t think they’re quite 100% FS2020 compatible in the most recent release.
so i updated my M20 in the content manager, tried twice but it says package failed, restarted my game, in the content manager it says its up to date however the aircraft is no where to be found when i try fly. Starting to get annoyed now.
delete the folder in /official, and download again
yes… possible this issues should also be reported/fixed… it is a old issue that these folders are not deleted while uninstalling and then it prevents a new installation. Not sure who is responsible for de-install-scripts…
Ha!, it was in the post you responded too, but, here it is again ![]()
(When I got the notification, I was like, I thought I did?
Maybe that was another thread??
)
Boy did they update the Mooney…
KSJC → KBUR
Saw a ground speed of 241 knots. no picture so it can’t be official.
As a side note: Today’s winds aloft was forecasting strong winds 30 - 50 out of the northwest.
So, we have a good Mooney and close to live weather, and a lot of planes in NorCal and SoCal.
There may be hope, yet!
@AlexLuccho! Not exactly as the digital Engine Data management (EDM) equipment seems not to be simulated very well. I can’t select a specific cylinder and monitor that separatelly. I used the “overall” EGT gauge at the pilot side and used the method described in the PoH “Cruise Power Settings and Fuel Flow” table: Best power is 50F rich of peak; best economy is 50F lean of peak.
Ok thanks!
Had this same problem and found a solution: move (or delete) the carenado-aircraft-m20r-ovation folder out of the OneStore folder, restart MSFS, go to Marketplace, locate the M20R and you should see the option to download the entire package (not just the update).
Seems like they updated this airplane to be more stable, so I pulled the trigger. So far so good.
