Carenado Mooney Ovation frustrating bugs

Bugs I have noticed with Carenado Mooney Ovation :

1. Autopilot heading is not accurate : doesn’t apply standard rate one turn (1’20’’ for a 180° turn instead of 1 minute ! Too late for any IFR procedure.)

2 . Auto pilot vertical mode doesn’t work : vertical ARM mode levels the aircraft at the current QNH altitude, not at the standard setting when we pass Transition Altitude.

3 . DME in mode Frequency changes the NAV 1 frequency, very irritating and frustrating.

4 . HSI’s CDI in GPS NAV mode doesn’t work. It’s not possible to perform any GNSS approach procedure. Very frustrating !

A lot of bugs or limitations and nothing as been improved.

Hello,
The Default Aircraft category is for non-modded aircraft that came with MSFS. I have moved your post to the Third Party Addons section.
You are welcome to discuss the aircraft issues here, but please know that the MSFS forums are not an official place for logging bugs about third-party add-ons. Please use Carenado’s Zendesk for that.

Ok it’s understood. Thanks.

Thank you. Best of luck!

have you opened a ticket at Carenado? Because some of what you are noting is their purview.
That said I believe some of the problems pertaining to navigation and AP are part of the ongoing MSFS SDK issues. What is likely is that some or all of your listed grievances will have to wait until MSFS is finished in these areas before Carenado can address them.
But the best way to find out is to contact Carenado first - directly

I have already contacted Carenado. That was their answer…

“Try deleting the aircraft’s folder from the directory and install again using the content manager.”

Great ! It 's obvious they don’t care a lot.

ok - did you try that recommendation ?
I had a problem with a marketplace installation of a Carenado update for the PA-28 and doing that solved it for me. It isn’t a perfect plan or system but sometimes it’s all there is.

Classic Care-nah-dont (buy from them)

I can’t speak to the bug list posted in the OP, because until they get the plane VR ready, it’s useless to me. And the amazing thing is their Seminole works perfectly in VR, so they know how to do it, and have just chosen not to so far on the Mooney. Though I did manage to finally get a support rep to tell me it’s being worked on.

I’m also trying to get clarification as to whether or not their Arrow is VR ready as I’m interested in buying it, but so far, no answers.

Have noted that the fuel selector in the Mooney Ovation is unable to be rotated out of the off detent since SU5, however engine still starts and runs.

Had the fuel selector issue, also had an issue with the COM2 and NAV2 frequency knob hot-spots. Could not adjust nor swap. So if was useless.

Switching on the overhead light switches was a bit more difficult without the tooltip ‘on/off’.

I also still get the annoying 6 inch to 1 foot drop when I first enter the aircraft.

Carenado commented about a patch coming I hope?

Hopefully not the usual “CareNada”

The tank selector is not switchable.
The GPS and some digital number screens (like the red numbers of the engine gauges or the radio panel numbers) heave heavy flickering when fully zooming out the view, and there are some nasty texture problems screaming “low-quality low-res and low colour-bit-depth with mach-band-colour-grading!” in this otherwise so great high-poly and detailed looking cockpit.
(I have already fixed the texture problems and uploaded a new set of textures to fix this problem and make the cockpit beautyfully and cozy looking).

It is important that @Microsoft and @Asobo start holding their MSFSMP developers to a higher standard. The Carenado Mooney, Waco and Seminole each have several small issues which would only require a few hours of developer time to correct. Instead- they choose to move forward and on to other projects BECAUSE they are allowed to. It is an embarrassment to MSFSMP, and if that marketplace is ever to have commercial success and legitimacy, someone at MS will have to take the reigns and REQUIRE developer follow through. Additionally, MS will have to start updating MSFSMP at the same time as developer websites, which again will require dedication and manpower.

Please @Carenado- do the right thing.

Sadly, this has always been CareNada’s modus operandi

On every platform and for many many years now they do this.

Big splashy release with nice looking models and high prices…and all the details are always lacking

@PistonSeaplane YES, but this time they are part of something MUCH BIGGER that can REQUIRE decent developer behavior. MS’ money is a powerful influence, and can be used for good things. Hopefully someone from @Asobo or @Microsoft reads this and WANTS to do the right thing.

Even something as big as MS is comprised of PEOPLE. Hopefully, someone with influence is touched enough to take a stand on this issue. MSFSMP will never be the success it could be, without direct and constant supervision, coupled with a sense of duty to it’s customer base.

Well said. I hope it becomes reality.

The new cockpit textures are getting nicer and more realistic over time, here a little wear and tear on the instrument panel…

But I found another bug:
When I accidentally crash the airplane, I click to restart flight - a crash can happen sometimes because I cannot get used to this very limited artificial horizon which only seem to be capable of showing 20° up/downwards angle (and seems to stop showing the attitude of the plane when the angle is lower or higher which sometimes causes losing orientation when flying through fog or clouds - this thing is a very very limited artificial horizon!)
When starting the flight new the engine of the Ovation does not work anymore and cannot be started anymore.

Are Carenado’s products ever going to get updated? I mean, is like, almost everything works fine with the launch version, but once the sim gets updated, Carenado forgets about their products, which we paid for

Cessna 182? CTD.
Waco YMF 5? Fuel tanks not working and a couple other bugs
Mooney? The same

Take a look to Just Flight’s PA28, getting updated almost every 3-4 weeks. Cmon, carenado, it must not be that difficult to give a proper support.

They are ALLOWED to behave poorly as no one from MSFSMP seems bothered enough to hold them accountable. Couple that with the glacial pace of the MSFSMP release process, and it’s a complete disaster.

@Asobo and @Microsoft- are you reading and paying attention? This issue highlights all the MAJOR flaws with MSFSMP currently.
