I have a question about the strobe / beacon switch…
You can select fin strobe, off, strobe light. So when I select the strobe light position, the red fin beacon doesn’t work, it’s either fin strobe or strobe lights.
Is it not so that when you select strobe lights, the red beacon should work also ?
was looking at some youtube vids, have seen a working beacon light and strobes together…and another video with just beacon working in flight and no strobes…
Speaking of the beacon, is it me or is the light in the wrong place. The physical model doesn’t seem to actually flash. It kind of look like the light source inside the tail below it.
Hi all,
Can anyone confirm if you set the switch to strobes if the red beacon works also?
I just saw a review on youtube from PA44 Carenado MSFS 2020 and the beacon was working with the strobes, if I select strobes, then the red beacon doesn’t work it’s either strobes or beacon.
Some real pilot’s here on the PA44 that can explain if the beacon should work or not when strobes on?
To answer your question, you can get the Carenado PA44 to have the fin strobe and wing strobes on simultaneously, but to do that, you need to set the “Ready for Takeoff” configuration in the tablet.
As for whether or not the Fin Strobe and Wing Strobes operate simultaneously when “Strobe Lights” is selected in the cockpit, I’m not 100% sure; I’ve never thought to check that in my preflight. I’ll make sure I check it next time I set foot in one.
ATP’s flight supplement for their Seminoles(from a brief Google) notes:
• Rocker Switch Down for Ground Use (Fin Strobe / Rotating Beacon)
• Rocker Switch Up Before Takeoff / Flight Use (Strobes)
So that could certainly be the case. Ours do not do that.
Check it out next time you have the opportunity. The embodiment of the STC might be listed somewhere in the Journey Log, if you wanna dig around in there for an hour or so.
No, there’s nothing about specific equipment in our journey logs. Possible in the technical logs, which we don’t have access to. This is in Canada, by the way.
There’s enough little problems with this aircraft that haven’t been fixed since it’s initial release in 2016 that haven’t been addressed that I’m more inclined to believe that Carenado doesn’t care if it’s right or not.
