CAS J3C
I’m pretty stoked! Modeling looks great and some nice features! Will be bittersweet to retire my BT J3 after many many flights.
Dev is looking to release soon on Contrail and Simmarket, priced around £15.
EDIT
This has now been released on Contrail and SimMarket!
After a few flights, all I can say is wow!

Definitely interested in this, the A2A J-3 in FSX was a favorite of mine!

Looks quite good.
I am still disappointed by the lack of a real Super Cub for the sim, though. (No, I don’t count the X-Cub and such.)

And I watched that, and thought how clean, and factory fresh it looked.
It would be nice to have a livery which looks used.

Exactly. No Cub would look this fresh and clean unless it was just made yesterday. Please make it look realistic and not like it’s made of plastic.

This one looks pretty clean
The video is also an excellent dissertation on crosswind operations in a light taildragger FYI

If I owned a vintage aircraft, I would be doing everything I could to keep it immaculate.

I really wish that developers would stop duplicating aircraft. We have at least three Cubs already (two J3 and one slightly more modern PA11) Then we have 4 Spitfires, 3 A320s.
I know, I know the Spitfires are all different models, but still …
If someone brought out another Cub I’d had hoped it’d at least be a PA18 Super Cub. The J3 is so slow … with a slight headwind you can overtake it with an ebike
partly disagree. I agree that a 60 year old plane should not look brand new. But the current tendency seems to be not to add some wear to a plane, but to make it look like it were a 60 year old junker noone had ever cleaned or cared for.
In my experience even old planes in private hands with their first paint job often look much newer and cleaner than the stuff the developers release.
The wear is well done and looks very realistic but it’s still overdone for my taste.
What are the two?
BT Studios and what’s the other?
Per the dev, he’ll provide both dirty and clean textures

He’s probably referencing the Flight Replicas L-4 which is the militarized J-3 I believe.
That being said I think this is a much more inspired module and I’m really excited for it.

There can never be too many Cubs
Looking forward to this release, looks good.

There’s also the default Asobo Cub that comes with the base sim
A J3 Cub comes with the sim?
Or we’re just counting anything with “Cub” in the name as the same aircraft regardless of wildly different performance, avionics, being produced decades apart, etc.?
Don’t forget the Husky, it looks like a cub

There is only one J3 in the current sim, Big Tires J3C. Yes the Flight Replicas L4 is technically a J3.
Dang, I’m really looking forward to this bird! Even the girlfriend is excited!

There is always room for an improved model of an aircraft. I can get why people get frustrated when the same basic model aircraft comes out multiple times, but I feel like CAS has gone way above standards when it comes to features on this J3 Cub.
There are aircraft I want to see done just as much as everyone, but (most) developers work on something they have a passion for, and if they can make a better version of an aircraft that already exists, I’m all for it. And this is definitely a passion project.
At the end of the day, we all vote with our wallet.
On the paint wear:
It’s definitely on the cleaner “restored” side. I think the big reason why it stands out and looks so bright and clean is that there doesn’t look to be any AO baking, maybe just some texture AO, which would help bring out texture seams and such. You can tell in the rudder pedal area that it is just relying on the sim’s generated AO.
Not a huge deal. It’s a little more effort to get the model set up right for baking, depending on how CAS is texturing it, but it really does help tie a model together visually.
Overall, awesome work for what seems to be a first aircraft release for this sim, and I’m looking forward to seeing where this one goes!

I agree. I have the L-4, PA-11, and BT J3. All 3 of them kind of disappeared from my mind entirely as soon as I saw this one. This looks to be THE Cub addon I’ve been waiting for.
