Cessna 152 Cockpit Heading Indicator vs Exterior HUD

Greetings folks, new to FS2020 for PC, not new to simming. I’m using the keyboard, mouse, and Logitech Extreme 3D Pro.

I’ve done what I felt was a reasonable search for this issue without finding hits that were identical. Be gentle if this is a known bug.

I’m in flight training > vfr navigation > first solo navigation (VFR flagstaff to sedona)

At mission start, all is well. HUD heading matches Cockpit heading indicator at 31deg. About halfway through the mission, they fall out of sync, by a great deal. In one instance, I took screenshots demonstrating the HUD showed a heading of 264deg while the cockpit heading indicator showed 0deg. That’s a huge difference. I pointed myself into the setting sun and confirmed that the HUD indicator was correct, while the cockpit indicator was way off.

I did not run into this in the prior training lessons in the series, and this seeming error recurred in subsequent attempts on the same lesson. This would be manageable were it reversed, where the HUD was wrong and cockpit correct, but alas it’s not, thus forcing me to keep switching to exterior camera to check heading.

Thoughts? Ideas? Interpretive errors on my part?

Thank you in advance.

Gyro drift.
Re-adjust Gyro occasionally when in level straight flight
or
Hit D keyboard key to re-sync
or
Turn on No Gyro Drift in Options

Thank you @N6722C.

EDIT Ok I found what’s triggering the de-sync in such a short time. It’s pausing game. While paused, any drift in my controller is moving the cockpit heading indicator in that direction. I can sit here and watch it move a degree or so per second. When I un-pause, the aircraft is still pointing the way it always was, but the heading indicator has spun a value relative to the pause duration and stick drift.

Sure enough, hitting ‘d’ while unpaused reset the cockpit and HUD to match.

Thanks
