CESSNA 172 and C400 wont start up at all even with CTRL-E quick start up process!

Double check the fuel valve. I experienced the exact same issue in the Cessna for the first time today. Coincidently, I also used a new controller today.

I’d start up as usual, but the engine would splutter and stop. Iran through all the checks and everything seemed fine, except the fuel related errors. It turns out that the fuel valve was in a closed position even though it was visually open and the prompt also said it was open. I just pulled it open and closed a few time, and bingo, problem solved.

i’d try to fly the plane before bothering with learning how to program one.

I don’t know about PC, but on Xbox you can record and save a clip. Then from within another separate app or from the Xbox dashboard you can view your saved clips and share them. One of the share options is Upload to Xbox Network. I choose this.

You can also upload to OneDrive, but when I do this HDR is disabled and the clip appears all washed out.

Then I launch the Xbox app on my phone (available for PC too) and from there I can see all the clips I’ve uploaded. I can then download it to my phone (or PC) and share to YouTube.

Yes, it’s way more cumbersome than it should be. Welcome to the world of Xbox gaming.

I suspect the Xbox app you have to run to load FS on the PC provides the same functionality somewhere.

You have to take off the engine covers and pitot covers when you are in control of your avatar. I just had this issue and resolved it that way.

Hi, thanks I have flown this plane (Cessna 172) in Microsoft flight sim since the 1980’s. Although we learned how to make one (model) using Blender some time ago ,and program them as well around that time I am Not really interested in programming the MSFS 2024 Cessna 172 at all, actually  As you mentioned , getting it to start up and run is the trick.
Pretty sure that we aren’t missing anything crucial like a setting . I mean I start up all the other Cessnas and other aircraft manually, with no need to have to try to quick start any of them. Following the preflight will start them up every time.

oh and the wheel chocks, pitot and engine covers are removed on all aircraft that I go out and fly (if that is required). Everything is done correctly!!!

Engine cover left on will prevent even ctrl-E startup. It would be better if they removed all the covers automatically when you use ctrl-e. But you can still start on a runway so who cares?

You guys are so wise and I am so … Ok,ok this is weird stuff this MSFS 2024!
However we do luv it and it’s gonna hurts our brains to figure some of this new stuff out!

Problem solved !

(hmm I was doing that in the preflight checklist of the Caravan and others… must be dozin..) :flushed:

Glad you figured it out

I was taking off a different cover thinking it was the Engine cover… Eek, I guess I better go back to Flight school here b4 I think about flying that 787 again. Gawd knows what trouble I will get into with that one now

And that’s why you do your walk around before starting the engine

Well, I stand by my statement that …
This is the best MSFF to date , no doubt about it… Still has missing comm issues . I don’t see text or hear a voice on any of my transmissions to ANY ATC but they respond this flight, but I will reboot and it will probably run ok…

The WBsim has an efb which removes those covers/chocks etc.
