CESSNA 172 and C400 wont start up at all even with CTRL-E quick start up process!

Bought the Deluxe $$$ version of MSFS 2024 and have no add on mods . I tried to fly the Cessca 172 Asobo . it wont even start up using the Ctrl-E combo. And nothing I do can get it to do anything more than turn the prop over for 1 second before the engine dies again.
Now the Fuel mix and all the other stuff needed to get it going were being correctly set.
Some of the other Cessnas will start up.The CESSNA 172 does nothing, Ack, the defacto MSFS plane ~the CESSNA 172, does not even work at ALL out of the box. And even hours of my trying to get it to start have done nothing to get it to work…
Tested Cessna C400 and it won’t start up either.
The Cessna 172 has several liveries and is used the the CAREER mode , so, not happy that these Cessnas have bugs which are WAY beyond any END-USERS capabilities (such as myself), to even try to fix. (trying to tone down my frustration).

Should mention that me and my bro have been flying MSFS since the 1980’s and I guess that means we LIKE it a bunch . Even getting our kids into looking at it  I think this version is the best one to date and I do hope to be able to fly that Cessna 172 soon…

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

The C172 starts and runs for me, running at 2300 rpm on the ground. And the C400 works for me too. I’m on Xbox. Are you following the checklist for the C400? You’re supposed to turn on the left and right batteries and alternators on the C400 before you prime and start it manually. Make sure you hold the magneto position in START like you would a car. @LineAxeAnd

Well , that stuff was done many many times I must say. This is more of a bug rather than me not knowing how to start up the 2 cessnas that are not working. Now the short cut should start them up even if someone did not know how to do all the stuff you mentioned. You see, it is a BUG for sure, since the quick start will not work either to get the engine running.
I had posted this as a subpost to another thread 12 days ago and removed and reposted it here since I did not any reply (from Microsoft support I was hoping) . Truthfully ,there are a large amount of experienced users here and this problem is beyond anyone here but Microsoft and their support.
This cessna 172 has some nice liveries and is used in Career mode. It is so much a part of Msfs 2024 that I am frustrated that it won’t start over ,and heh , well you know…
Thanks for your reply though, nice to know someone out there is willing to try to help out
Now I hoping that
a) They will help resolve this and I can fly it sometime within a month.
b) They will help resolve this and I can fly it sometime within two months.

Anyhow, omg , this one is too big a problem to figure out , If no one from Microsoft ever looks into this issue & thus I can never fly the Cessna 172 in MSFS 2024 with my family members ,well we would be pretty disillusioned to say the very least. I have flown all of the others cessnas that came with MSFS 2024 deluxe version and found that they will start up and thus fly around.

Maybe no fuel added!

heheh ,never thought they would generate a plane that has no fuel in it … That’s thinking outside the box , I will check it later today when I fly again, and get back to this post

And make sure that the mixture (red handle) is full rich and the fuel selector on the center console is on a tank, either left or right, not off

I am in the Cessna 172 now. I did the steps in preflight . I also double checked the fuel level. It dies after 1 second every time. I did the quick Ctrl-E and it just sputters and dies after it starts up the ignition and so on… Then a warning beep comes on… So, I appreciate everyone’s interest in this problem. My brother has MSFS 2024 running on both the PC and XBOX. These Cessna’s start up no problem for him. He can hit Ctrl-E and have this Cessna 172 start up and run on both systems. I can see that others can start this plane without problems, but I can not. When I hit Ctrl-E it runs for a bit but dies when the fuel pump is automatically shut off during the start-up sequence. So the engine does run and the propeller turns over before this shut-off, that is when it dies out.
I am thinking that I really need Microsoft tech support to help me with this. I don’t know where or how I can talk with them about it. I keep writing away here hoping someone can direct me to someone who can help. Now I could be wrong, perhaps others here have run into this and have an answer for me

Are you holding in the magneto in the start position for a couple of seconds? it’s like starting a car, you have to hold it in until it starts.

Yes I hold it until it on START until it automatically turns back off a second or so later.

For me, it works fine.
Is the fuel shut-off tab just above the tap pulled out properly?

Oh yes it is in the open position for sure.

the CTRL-E auto sequence would also make sure these settings were correct as it auto starts up the plane. This does not work. DOES not work at all. no matter what settings someone might suggest that I check on and change because the software automatically does that stuff and the Cessna Skyhawk should then just run fine.

Can you capture a video of you trying to start it and link to it? Be sure to pan around or zoom out enough so we can see the full cockpit panel. An exterior view of the front of the plane would be helpful too.

Are you using a Honeycomb Alpha yoke by chance? The built-in magneto switch may be bound by default . Use it to start the engine and see what happens.

Yes please give us a video so we can help

I am using the most standard Joysick of all > the Logitech extreme 3d pro. MSFS 2024 mistakes this joystick when it looks up devices and msfs 2024 calls it a Saitek extreme 3d pro. msfs 2020 had found the Logitech extreme 3d pro profile with no problem
Anyhow ,even with this clash happening I managed to assign buttons on it and use it to fly all the other Cessnas as well as some other aircraft in MSFS 2024.

WHAT free software should I be using for making the video capture on a windows machine?
It looks like that is the only thing I can do at this point.

I’m an Xbox user so forgive me if I don’t know everything about the Windows version. But don’t you have to run an Xbox app on Windows to run the sim, and if so, doesn’t it have a clip Capture function like the Xbox does?

If so, you can download the clip and then upload it to YouTube and post the link.

You can also get a link directly to the clip on the Xbox network, but I never do that so I’m not sure how well it works.

Now thanks < I will look into seeing what the PC version wants me to do to create a video clip

Interesting question.
MSFS is written on a Windows machine. I believe they are still using XNA ( a C# interface with Network Architecture). The Controls are written to use the PC’s input/output peripherals.
When they get a good stable version going with the code they then port it over to the XBOX , but first changing the input/ output controls to the XBOX controller style ,~ instead of keyboard, mice and Joystick (and custom peripherals being designed all the time using Arduino microcontrollers and such).

They then run extensive testing on the XBOX converted MSFS 2024 to make sure it follows the
correct format assigned on an XBOX.
On a side note , I was writing code using these PC controllers in a language called LUA ~ for the DCS engine. Anyhow, I am way behind in the latest and greatest software development tools Microsoft is using these days. I have no idea what Microsoft is using now to write the code which communicates over to Directx. (I had started playing around with OpenGL and WebGL and the like on Linux machine)
My version is a steam version ,and I don’t know what part of the process Steam takes over compared to the non steam version. This software stuff is complicated

Now thanks < I will look into seeing what the PC version wants me to do…

Just send us the video so we can help you.

Well I made a quick video for everyone here to look at and when I went to save it,

IT says these are embedded recordings , I am thinking there is no FILE location for them so how do I get one unembedded so I can send it over to here… Don’t record very much at all, this is the first time I actually needed to record flight data in order to show a problem. How do I send one of these embedded recordings over , I searched the drives for anything with their Filenames on it and came back empty.
