Is this your own plane in career mode, or doe it also happen in free flight mode?
It happens only in free mode. In career, works ok.
I just realize that I have the warning Oil pressure low… How do I repair it ?
I tried to bind the Repair and refuel command to a keybord key, but it does not work…
I’m at work so can’t check to be sure, but I think the oil pressure light may stay on until the engine is running. Without it running, the oil pump is not turning. So this may be normal.
Yeah, thats the standard message until the engine fires up.
I would like to know how I hop in an aircraft to start it cold, after using the FreeFlight window to start from a parking space. My character is outside the aircraft on the Apron and I can’t figure out how to get inside! Please help.
Click on the door handle, or Cntl - C (Take control of character)
Okay I see, thank you, take control of character does work
Suddenly it works ok again !!!
Good to hear. Be nice to know what the problem was though. Probably just another bug…
I couldn’t get the ■■■■ thing started either. The EFB checklist says mixture full aft. I pushed it all the way like you said and it started right up ![]()
@TheM00ps, your suggestion(s) helped me. In my case, it was the Fuel Shutoff valve (part of the checklist) and I ignored it (thought it was hidden somewhere below the passenger seat, and only used in case of emergencies, not sure where I read that on the internet).
Btw, avionics, lights etc. are not needed to start but at a minimum you should have beacon and/or strobe lights on to let people around you know that you’re ready to spin that prop (along with Clear).
Also, read the POH for your plane (I’m assuming the checklist for MSFS for the particular Cessna is correct) as I have seen mixture rich before you start and mixture rich after you start.
In a fuel injected 172 (unlike a carbureted one), the start up sequence is:
Beacon ON
Master ON
Check fuel levels,
Throttle ¼” pushed in
Mixture rich (all the way pushed in)
Fuel pump on
Mixture cut-off (all the way out)
Fuel pump off
Mags START,
As soon at the prop starts to turn,
Mixture rich,
Adjust throttle RPM to 1000 RPM
Nav Lights ON
Avionics ON
ATIS check
Altimeter check
Walk around the plane. Click on all surfaces and wheels to confirm checked and remove red tags and engine cover.
I am a beginner and tried walk around the plane but cannot remove the red tag. The only thing that seems to respond is the door handle and I enter the plane. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Hm, so you don’t see a hand icon when you hover your mouse over the red cover?
No. I have a dot but it does not respond to my mouse click.
I don’t know if it will matter but what cockpit interaction system are you using? I’m using legacy and left clicking will remove the cover.
