Cessna 172 G1000 Shaking

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: The Cessna 172 shakes, rattles and rolls. It does this when you look at it in the aircraft configuration screen, but it also does this if you load the airplane. The aircraft is completely unusable in this state. I will try to attach a video showing the problem. A warning message comes up saying there is a malfunction with the landing gear and the wheels.

No other aircraft are doing this.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue: Cessna 172 Skyhawk. EDIT: G1000 only.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
I have no community add-ons.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

This occurs always if I try to use the Skyhawk.

I do have a few marketplace addons, but they were all set to “disabled” status when I captured those recordings of the issue.

Quick correction: ONLY the G1000 Skyhawk is doing this. The steam gauge version is working fine (as are all other aircraft as far as I’ve seen).

Title & label updated to reflect the variant.

Which version of FS2024 do you own ?
2 differences I have notice with your 1st video vs my C172 selection are the position of the aircraft is not the same and the variants prior the G1000 are differents

I have the Steam edition of 2024, Premium Deluxe. It should be the most recent version # because steam is set for auto update. Build 18360086.

I’m trying to think of anything else that could be relevant (no idea of these things are):

  • I tried the beta SU3 recently (maybe a week or 2 ago?) but switched back to the release version. I did try downloading content while SU3 was active.

  • Recently (this weekend IIRC) I opened the application and all aircraft except for 2 were not showing up when I went to start a free flight. I eventually figured out that I had to go into marketplace “library” and re-enable them. I have no idea why that happened, but I did not disable anything.

  • Again today a few aircraft were disabled (in particular the single 2024-compatible marketplace add-on that I own, which is how I know it was disabled when I recorded that issue because I went to fly that after I found the 172 to not be working).

Maybe those things are somehow related… I realize delete and reinstall the entire app is an option, but to reset all of my camera and control settings would be incredibly time consuming, so it’s an absolute last resort.

Okay, I just went to check the order that the variants show up in, and now Basic is gone… it is disabled in the Library. I re-enabled it, and all of the SP variants (steam gauges) show up after the G1000 variants (and again, it turns out the SP variants are working fine).

Do you see the 5.2.0 version in my library ? as well as streamed ?

Sorry for the delay. G1000 172 is showing 5.2.0, but INSTALLED not STREAMED. Steam gauge also shows installed but is working fine.

Could you test with streamed instead of installed ?

Okay, I uninstalled the G1000 172, restarted the application, and the problem stopped. So this is somehow related to being downloaded/installed. FWIW, other aircraft (all of them) are also downloaded/installed but do not seem to have this issue, so it is unique to that aircraft.

I have tried to reproduce the issue but unsuccessful:
1- download/install the C172 G100
2- restart the sim
3- go to the aircraft selection: aircraft is not shaking
4- start a flight: aircraft is not shaking

@CommonDai : you may want to download it again to check if you can replicate on your side ?
If so, prior to do it, make sure to delete the C172 folder that contain the file you previously downloaded. (I am on ms-store so path may be different on steam)

Quick update and clarification:

I had downloaded the G1000 172 while the beta was installed, but beta is no longer installed so I’m unable to re-download and reinstall it. After I uninstalled and deleted the airplane, it now shows 4.12.1 Streamed. I have an idea that the 5.2.0 version might not be compatible with the current GA release version for some reason and is only compatible with the SU3 beta. Just a guess, but obviously 5.2.0 is not the version of the plane that gets streamed in the SU2 release version of MSFS 2024. As mentioned before, this seems to be specific to this plane, as other planes are also installed and not exhibiting this behavior.

So, here is my hunch as to how to reproduce the problem (forgive me, I don’t have time to actually test this):

  1. Reminder, I’m using Steam (if that matters)
  2. Install flight sim beta SU3.
  3. Download and install the Cessna G1000 172.
  4. Uninstall the beta SU3 (revert to regular release version SU2)
  5. Load up the Cessna G1000 172

Install is still very much experimental, so it’s hard to say if this is a defect or simply a hazard of the experimental status…

Agree with @CasualClick comments. Since the download functionality does not exist in SU2, if you have downloaded a plane in SU3 and revert back to SU2 without prior to it change your plane status from installed to streamed it may have a negative impact. This situation should not happen in the future once the download functionality is available in both Live and next Beta SU.

Thanks all. Agreed. At this point it’s probably not worth troubleshooting this any further or trying to recreate the issue since it is likely related to downloading aircraft in the beta and then reverting to SU2. My problem is solved for new. Appreciate the help!
