Cessna 172 just went off

That was fixed by me. The instruments went dark cause it doesnt switched back the power key from both. Was misconfigured hotas

you right theres only cabin Heat. Hmm strange … why my engines went dark…

Isn’t the sim’s 172 fuel injected? There shouldn’t be a carburator?! Or do I mistake it for something else? I haven’t flown it in a while, so…

Edit: ah… missed that post 4 or 5 above mine… you’re already aware, so disregard.

That’s for an older model with carburated engine. All versions of the 172 in the sim are more modern ‘S’ versions with fuel injected engines. THat’s why they have electric fuel pumps instead of manual primers like the 152.

I dont think MSFS is clever enough to do that… yet

The 172’s in MSFS are the S model which are fuel injected. No carb heat lever on these. The 152 has the carb heat in this sim. I’m also not sure carb icing is even properly modeled to be honest.

With failures off it almost seems like a bug. I’ve been pretty reckless on purpose to see what modeled or not in this sim and haven’t blown an engine yet unless the cheesy “damage” models are on. Those only seem to stop the sim dead in tracks though with a “you overstressed” error and not an actual failure. Other than that if this were IRL, you’d hit the fuel pump switch and see if you can restart as a last ditch effort while pitching for best glide and find a safe place to land. Also checking the fuel selectors and cut off switches. If I were guessing though some keyboard or hardware button interfered with the flight.

Curious - did you have crashes enabled? As in, when you hit the ground did the plane just sit there as if nothing happened and just couldnt restart? Or did you hit and it gave a “you crashed reset your flight” type message?

Did you try glide for a while, then Control-E on the keyboard ? It happened to me a few times with Cessna Citation. First Control-Shift-E to switch off… then Control-E.

What controllers do you use ? Also keep in mind when there’s a popup camera, nav-map or weather, the sim may loose focus… I fly keyboard only and found that hitting the Control-key (only that key) sometimes helps to wake up the aircraft.

I’ve lost power in the sim 152 a few times because of it. That was on a much earlier build and I haven’t used the 152 in quite a while so I don’t know if it’s changed. But it felt like it was very aggressively over modeled. Icing comes on super fast, and also clears very quickly with carb heat. But then again, my instructor and another student put the school’s 152 down in a field because of it, so it’s great to see it’s at least modeled in the sim, even if it’s too aggressive it keeps you from getting complacent.

Interesting idea actually. A log that shows you what went sideways. Post it under wishes, I’d upvote that.

Yeah, or if the sim just went to active pause instead of a black screen of death on crash. Then you could look at everything in the cockpit, grab the fuel, weight, and weather settings at the time, take a look around in the external view, etc. That would be a super easy change to make before they program a virtual black box.

It crashed to the ground. i have crashes enabled.

I really don’t think it has anything to do with Carb heat. I’ve flown the C172 in just about every temperature & climate in the sim & have never used it.

Far more likely to be a bug or controller conflict (likely introduced with SU5).

Did you say you’re only using mouse or do you have other controllers?

Mouse , Keyboard, Warthog Hotas and Gladiator NXT Joystick.

Must be a bug, there a lots of them coming with the Xbox port.

More bugs than a lamp post in the jungle.

My guess would be that its a controller problem. If it where me I’d remove & then re-install the Hotas & Joystick & remap all the functions.
(I have problems with the Honeycomb Alpha, & their very polite Technical services told me it looks most likely to be problems introduced with SU5 with relation to Peripherals)
Painful & tedious but that’s what most of us need to do at the moment to use our beloved Sim.

Yea i just fresh installed the Gladiator, perhaps i need to remove the HOTAS?

I am just sitting here wanted to fly, and suddenly the C172 goes OFF again…
When i press Battery Master just notthing happes only a beep–no instrument showing up…

Magnetos Fuel Pump, nothing…
Even the Flashlight ist bugged …

Ok that is bizarre.

Check all controller assignments, even your mouse scroll wheel (search by input)

I just found it and voted on it.

Just full of bugs, Flashlight casting weird shadows, MY TrackiR stopped working…

I could fly for Hours every day before the XBOX Port…now i guess i cant.

And again, i reconfigured my hotas but theat was not the problem…

Cessna just goes dark, this time the engine still running.
