ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Autopilot in this airplane is not stable; it continuously banks a bit left and right while on autopilot, regardless of whether it’s in NAV or HDG mode. This happens only with the Caravan

Cessna 208 Caravan EX

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Start cikd&dark following the checklist
    2.Start flight
    3.Activate AP then NAV or HDG depending by purpose of flight
  2. Start to wobbling left and right while on AP

Try it again with no wind and see if it is still doing it. That “wobble” appears quite minor and you have 17 knots cross and rear winds showing. I would expect some minor movement while in ap.

Not very likely without wind if you are using this plane in career mode.
I have the same problem with the Caravan.
Last time was so bad that the plane went in to a stall.

I tried also with now wind and have same behaviour.
I will upload later a video with no wind. I think the issue is with yaw damper, it seem it not work properly. Just my cent.

Could be. Seems like the new sim is conjuring up problems from the past.

Until they patch this, I have a solution…

Hand fly the plane up to stable cruising alt and stable on nav track.
Remember to engage yaw damper.
This should make the plane behave a lot better.

Also, the autopilot is unable to properly compensate for putting the flaps down, especially when on the glideslope, the nose rises significantly and the plane struggles to cope.

For me engaging the yaw dampener is causing yawing oscillations of 10-15 degrees from direction of travel, which then persist for some minutes after the dampener is disabled again but the autopilot is kept on.

Same here, extremely wobbling in AP mode…
Just sold it and bought the PC-12, much more smoother.

• Having the same issue with the Caravan. Happens in every flight regime. mostly noticeable in cruise.

the AP and YD gains are not tuned. Its just a quick change on asobo’s part, not game breaking. YD is completely untuned right now and does nothing.

Workaround: Use ALT VS = 0 mode and HDG mode. they remove one integration from the AP dynamics and it wobbles a lot less.

• When clicking the AP master, there is no indication on the PFD and the aircraft does not follow AP commands in green as selected on the. AP panel. Same when using the keyboard short cuts for Toggle AP master. Selecting AP modes shows the correct indications on the PFD in green but the AP is not activating

Same here. This aircraft suffers from dutch roll and YD cannot stop it. Even the silghtest crosswind makes it unstable in flight.
