Change the default sim rate?

Hi there, is there any way to change the default sim rate? Maybe a config file where it can be edited by hand?

Reason: I´m wondering if the sim isn´t a bit too slow compared to real life. So I´d love to give test it with sim-rate factor 1,1

Press keyboard key R
Then Ctrl + or -
Increments are not that fine 2,4,8 increase
Not sure of the decreases.

Decrease works too. Just keep pressing Control -

You can do funny things with that, e.g. get out of a spin.

I don’t like the faster modes. The effective authority of aeleron and elevator doubles with each time warp, the faster you go, the more difficult to control the aircraft, that is manual GA aircraft.. for the big ones and autopilot driven aircraft a faster time setting could be no issue.. I didn’t test it.

I have the sim rate increase and decrease set on 2 of my Thrustmaster T.16000 flightstick buttons.

The default sim rate is 1:1.

You can tell if you’re going the right speed by looking at your velocity, and travel a known distance at constant velocity and time it. It shouldn’t be any different. Make sure you use a weather preset and there are no winds, as that will affect your ground speed.

It can feel a lot slower when you’re in the air because you don’t have anything physical whizzing by to “fool” your senses with. As Einstein proved… it’s all relative.

You should not have to tell. It should be normal.

Well.. time itself is not, at least not at speeds less than ca 90% of the speed of light. Putting a different “sim rate” is in fact not realistic in a simulator because you’re warping time. No physics allows to change observer timeframe durations !! And even above 90% of light speed, only outside observers will see your clock deviate, you won’t notice any change in time yourself, inside your aircraft !

Ok. I surrender.

Okay, I surrender.

Don’t want to discuss if it is too slow or not, as I know there are different opiniions. Just want to know if there is a workaround how I can change the rate to exactly 1:1,1 or 1:1,05 or so.

And no, I am not asking about the r+ and r- thing. I know that.

I read on this Forum to back it back down and then set it with 2 clicks up for normal.

That was the title of your topic and why you got that answer.

No need to wonder. It’s not too slow. No need to change anything.

Sorry, don’t want to be unpolite, but it’s not a discussion about wrong or right. I only want to know if there is a parameter in any config file to play around with.

That’s why the topic is about the DEFAULT sim rate. Not the change of the sim rate in game.

It is not “too slow compared to real life” :grinning:

It is 1:1

I only do real-world routes using FlightAware plans and my flight time in the game is EXACTLY as the real planes with a variation of +/- 2mins.

You can test this yourself. Go on FlightAware and look for a short flight, FedEx Caravan delivery feeder flights are ideal. Fly the same route in the MSFS Caravan, you will see it matches the real world ETE.

No, there is no way to do what you want. Changing the sim rate as stated above is the only thing you can do.

Thanks StarlessLion, I think it must be somewhere in the configs, but maybe in a more complicated code than a simple parameter that can be changed. It´s a pitty.

Why is this a pitty?
Nobody except you would need such a strange feature.

I think the only solution is to slow you down instead of speeding the Sim up by 10%.
Benzodiazepines are a type of sedative medication. This means they slow down the body and brain’s functions.

I don’t understand what this means.

Well, thanks for all the high quality comments. Two things to end this:

  1. I´m not alone, when you look to several forums in the world wide web (this one included)
  2. Have you ever flown in a SEP aircraft in reality by yourselves? If not: If you compare the time you have for your decision to the sim, it feels very much like you have a bit more time to decide in the sim. Same with a usual approaches. They feel fast in reality and slow in the sim. That´s the only reason I wanted to play a bit with the time-factor, to see if the feeling gets closer to reality.

Besides that: No need for drugs here. So I leave the benzos for you. Have fun!
