Being a purest I’m not one for fantasy aircraft or defunct airports
However the possibility of landing the Fenix A320 on rwy13 at Kai Tak caught my imagination
So I created a flightplan RCTP/VHHX using simbrief with no problem
I imported the flightplan into the MCDU and EFB again no problem
But you guessed it I’ve got no arrival or approach charts on my Navigraph chart app. I therefore change my arrival runway to 31 as I didn’t much like my chances with no charts on runway 13. In the end a sucessful flight but not the planned runway I wanted.
I don’t expect Navigraph to provide historical data and was somewhat surprised when I got a flightplan from simbrief complete with STAR and also recognition of it by the MCDU.
So does anyone know where I might find these twenty year old arrival and approach charts or indeed possibly offer any other advice. I’ve tried googling but really can’t find anything that matches the simbrief generated STAR.
Thanks
Use Little Nav Map. It will show lateral depiction of SID/STAR and tabular chart of vertical fixes.
I flew the famous IGS RWY 13 last night using LNM to cross check. It was really cool to follow it down, then look hard for the Checkerboard Hill Visual Cue while keeping one eye out of for the Middle Marker indicator which tells you it’s time to turn to 107M for the final.
And if you miss all that, the apartment building sized Rabbit Light Towers curving towards the runway are your final cue. How Kowloon City managed to sleep with those immense hi-viz flashers going on all day and night, I will never know.
It’s a big drop from the FAF, so be on the ball and arm APR well before because you’ll be inside the ILS cone before the FAF - it’s something like 4500’ to 610’ before the turn to Final in one leg. But the turn to Final is manual, 'natch.
Those charts don’t match the IAP for RWY13 as defined in the sim. It’s actually missing most of the waypoints. If you use a Garmin equipped aircraft, you will fly most of the approach on GPS, then manually switch to LOC at the FAF.
You can fly it by hand, but I’m just letting you know the IAP inside the sim isn’t relying on those fixes.
Those are the charts you need to use however you want to fly it realistically.
Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I’ve now at least got something to work with. Will try again tomorrow whilst the wife is out and I can swear a lot.
I might be able to get a full set of KaiTak (VHHH) charts. I will be out of action for a week or so, but if I get them I will let you know on the forum

Here’s my collection of Kai Tak charts. It includes the document above, old Jeppesen charts, and Cathay Pacific Port Pages (basically their internal company notes for flight crew).
Thank you for providing this information. Exactly what I was looking for.
