Check weather while flying?

I haven’t flown MSFS in a long time and am under the impression there were lots of changes in-sim. One I’m looking for how to use is how I can see what the simple weather at an airfield is while flying (assuming it doesn’t have a frequency)? Does the in-sim map show this info now?

No, you would switch radio2, etc, to the ATIS COM for the upcoming airport (if it is available) and monitor it to get the weather.

You could also ask ATC (not sure if in-sim ATC does this but Pilot2ATC does as well as VATSIM, etc…).

Some planes have the ability built in to get weather updates, like the Working Title CJ4.

Or, just use an APP and get it.

You can also open the VFR map, click on an airport, and toward the bottom of the information section there is usually a weather report. If you’re not sure how to read it, there are numerous sites that explain how to read them.

this is what I was looking for! i can read metar so this would be perfect.

So the VFR map tells you the weather at airports now if you click on them? I’ll have to try this thanks

Along with it’s many other attributes Little Navmap can also get weather for you at any airport in the world using it’s search facility. The only caveat is that sometimes a weather report is for a nearby station as that particular airport doesn’t have weather observation.

meteoblue is MSFS’ weather provider, this link is their METAR map, you can view conditions at a glance or click for the full METAR.

This is my go-to website for MSFS’ weather because of the accuracy compared to in-game, and the powerful map overlay options! I’d highly recommended playing around with it and learning it’s features!

Edit: i.e. If no METAR is available you can still use the forecast maps to know what you’re flying into.
