Thanks for that info. That will save time.
Does the sim automatically save it in the cloud?
It should do yes.
The profiles that you save for each controller are stored against your MS account, so when you have reinstalled, they will be there for you. The controllers on the new installation will probably show as having the default profile for a start, but you will be able to select a previously created profile to replace the default.
That’s great, great, I didn’t know that!
Thank you SteveOhhNo for the info
Is there a keyboard y to show you how to go from the gate to the runway to take off? FSX had the airport helper with a yellow line in case you were at an unfamiliar airport. Thanks
Hi, which DNS service are you using? I have noticed this issue happen to me (either ‘please insert Disc’ or ‘Checking for updates’ and neither will allow the sim to load) if using a DNS service that has ad blocking, filtering or privacy features built in (e.g. NextDNS)
yes, you can enable that in the options somewhere (i think it’s under “assistance” or something like that), it shows blue arrows as lines for orientation.
Thanks I’ll look for it. This is a lot different than FSX which I’ve had for 10 years. I may go back to it…
Further update. Having downloaded all but 9 Gb yesterday, I left the Sim running last night and when I got up this morning… Nothing had been downloaded at all. I restarted the Sim and it now seemed stuck on checking for updates. Thank goodness I kept P3D installed. Back to learning how to fly the wonderful Just Flight Bae146 in what is now a relatively stable simulator. I have to say that MSFS is the worst piece of software I have ever used, or tried to use. What is the point of having all the beautiful scenery if you can’t even get it to install properly.
Mine got stuck that way also. I emailed Asobo and after two weeks of no help, I called Microsoft-XBox. They had me uninstall and reinstall but they had to refund my money and recharge so I could get the premium deluxe. I still fly FSX.
I just fixed mine.
So if anyone else gets this, check your addons for an empty manifest file - if manifest is 0 kb reinstall the addon again.
I have tried every day to download the remaining 9GB of data I need to run the sim, but since 30th March nothing has been downloaded. I keep Zendesk updated, but they just send me standard replies with the same instructions that I have already tried. Today I sent them the following message "Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, you don’t seem to be listening to me. Please explain why a week ago I was able to download 90 Gb then two days ago 30 GB but now I have tried leaving the computer running at night for over 10 hours on three occasions and it will not download the remaining 9Gb.
I have already made all the changes you have suggested, the same ones you suggested before, without any effect.
I have a computer manufactured and dedicated to running a flight simulator, with the fastest drives and a new graphics card. It runs P3d successfully and downloads from all other websites without issue. I have over 400GB of space on my SSD drive, but since Monday it will not download a single piece of software from your site.
Please do not send me automated replies asking me to reset my computer again or to reinstall your software, which I already succeeded in running before you updated it. Why don’t you open up a website that permits users to download installation files that the current system will not automatically install. A simple download system, similar to that used by every other software company."
One thing they told me, not sure if they told you, was to download all windows updates. Some of the redistributes files are needed.
Well, over the weekend I finally managed to download all the updates. So that’s taken three weeks in total. Strangely enough I have no problem downloading the in-sim marketplace scenery updates, it’s only the mandatory sim monthly updates that fail to load consistently. I can’t reliably operate using this system. I have experienced update problems every time they update the Sim, and I was an initial Beta tester and reported the same problems over a year ago. I can’t consider spending any more money on such an unreliable system.
I think I have sorted the long checking for updates!!! Delete Content.xml in C:\Users[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages\ Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
MSFS will recreate the file when next launched! This improves my Sim performance as well! ![]()
Hi, thanks for the advice but it didn`t work for me
Ah well. Hope you can find the answer. I know how frustrating it can be. Good luck!
The “Checking for Updates” screen shows too long. It lasts one minute and 20 sec.
Select Taxi Ribbon in the Assistance menu
