Freeware Chengdu J-20 at Flightsim.to. Real MSFS model, not a portover.
Exterior looks really nice. Flight modeling is pretty sci-fi, and the interior is going to make Deimos and Bredok3D fans happy – another fighter with systems taken from a bizjet – but won’t keep DC Designs up at night that this is being given away for free. But hey, it’s fun if you want a fast and free addition to your library. (Luckily it’s stealth, so no rivets to count!)
I was pleasantly surprised with this freeware. Texture’s/cockpit aren’t much to be desired but for freeware, that quality or lack there of is expected.
But the flight model, is actually not bad. Lots of the information on this jet isn’t readily available but the acceleration at all speeds, the shaking of the plane at high speeds, it feels very good. Im unsure if in real life you would need to make trim adjustments or if a fbw type of system is implemented and manual trimming in real life isn’t needed, but the manual trimming required for this jet didn’t seem too crazy to me and was manageable early on. My only complaint about the flight model is that the roll rate seems ridiculously fast/unrealistic. You(the pilot) of course can make the roll rate slower by your stick adjustments but if you push all the way to the side, the plane rolls as if there is no such thing as wind resistance.
In terms of freeware aircraft, this is an instant top 3 favorite of mine.
