Brief description of the issue:

This is an old issue but I couldn´t find any active post to comment it. Please merge it when appropiate. However the effect appears to be much worse now than it was in the past. The issue is caused by Bing world textures not being applied properly (seamless). Instead of that they are applied on a chessboard pattern. In the past the size of the board was small. Currently it´s considerably hughe resulting in a complete ugly scenario. Once the problem is reproduced disabling Bing world textures does not generate the issue. Enabling them generates it again. TLOD setting does not solve it nor improve it. It´s a problem of Bing textures themselves. In addition to that it seems the cloud shadows are not consistent as a clear area is reproduced while Bing textures are enabled but this area is dark when they are disabled.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Bing maps textures enabled:

Bing maps textures diseabled:

ICAO or coordinates (DevMode > Options > Display position)

43.21566, -0.19321. SE of LFBP

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Fly on any area. Normally the issue is well spotted between 1000ft and 3000ft and also when cloudy weather exists as it enhances the ground color contrast.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

DX12 mode enabled.

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

1.29.30.0

Delete the rolling cache, restart msfs.
Create a new rolling cache, if you want too.
All good now?
If not, remove all mods and try again.

Most likely a mod or combination of mods.
This has been seen before. Seach Checkerboard

I don´t use rolling cache.

The issue is not exactly what is described in other posts. It´s not caused by faulty textures or airport mods, because it happens in the middle of regular areas. The problem appears to be a wrong merging of Bing world textures (or the shaders related to them). You can see that several layers are put one on top of the other (most likely to create the terrain shadows and adjust ground colors) but this is not working well.

In my first picture you can see how a dark green texture is applied to terrain but only on particular area. This results in a very sharp edge in the middle of the clear green ground. The base terrain texture is still correct and it has no artifacts (it contains some fields and trails) but the color is wrong. The same effect is reproduced following similar chessboard patterns as you move. In all cases the color is wrong while the base ground texture is still correct.

Cheers
