MEDIA
The 1st and 2nd images are Shanghai and Beijing, China. As a comparison, the 3rd is Pyongyang, North Korea; and the 4th is Tokyo Japan.
You can find that even Pyongyang has a higher density of light than Shanghai, not to mention Tokyo. You can also check Tehran in Iran in the game, which also shows a higher density of light, and I don’t think that should happen.
I zoomed in for a closer check and found that it’s mainly because most areas in chinese cities only have lights on their main roads, and it is totally dark between roads (see 1st and 2nd image, there are many dark squares), and other cities in the world have their communities lighted.
I don’t think that’s caused by political issues because you have even North korea brighter. And you can find some small areas of Shanghai and Beijing that are brighter than their surroundings.
