Ever since I reinstalled MSFS a few days back, I keep running into a frustrating error that I’ve never encountered before. My issue stems from the fact that when I choose my departing runway at my chosen airport (from the world ‘drop-down’ menu), it never puts me on the selected runway. For example, tonight I wanted to take off from 27C at ORD, which I chose from the drop down menu. Once the everything loaded up, I found myself lined up for 28R. Yesterday, same thing. I wanted to takeoff from 15L at YYZ, and once the sim loaded, again found my plane lined up on 24R instead… I can’t for the life of me understand what’s happening here.
To me it might not be an ATC issue but rather the sequence you select the menus. IIRC, should you select runway first and switch to another aircraft then hit Fly, the sim would put you in its default location. If you did everything else first then select the departure runway and hit Fly, it will probably put you where you’d like to.
Yes it is very annoying. Simbreif/Navigraph is great software. It knows the active runways. When you inport Simbreif to Navigraph Charts the runways it suggests are the best choice. Origin and destination. Anyway if you want to change Runways Navigraph will say Not In Use etc . You guys know what I mean. Sooooo if you spawn at the best choice rwy it aways changes you a rwy you dont want. So I wind up spawning cold a dark at a gate near the best choice rwy.
Regardless of whether it is the default airport or a third-party airport, if you choose to be born on the runway, you will be born on the wrong runway after starting the game. For example, I selected RJTT runway 22, but the aircraft was on runway 34R.
