Since we now have a quite nice model of the SR22T by Working Title I request to add the SR20 variant to the fleet! It is quite similar to the already existing SR22. Just remove some switches, tweak the performance and we are done.
(Of course I make it sound way easier than it actually is but to be honest, the foundation is there so why not use the chance)
If there is no chance this will ever happen Microsoft could also release the SR22 files that are currently encrypted. So the community could create their own SR20.
If you choose the way of creating the SR20 (highly recommended) I believe there will be a lot of people actually paying some money for it since this is a highly modern training aircraft and therefore nice for flight students.
A different engine (though really it’s in the cowling, who’s gonna even be able to tell)
No FIKI system (leading edges won’t have that microporous metallic finish)
No O2 system
Otherwise, they’re effectively the same from a mechanical perspective. I would actually recommend not pursuing making interior model changes for the next few months though; it’s gonna be wasted effort.
I agree with you that there are many more differences. But for the sim itself I would argue that most of these are kind of “unimportant” or easy to fix.
Remove O2 and FIKI sytem is just deleting some parts of the interior, some code and polish the polygons.
Different engine and different propeller is true but my argument here is:
The flight model is the major part that would need to be adjusted to match the SR20. This includes engine & prop performance.
About the interior: Different fuel pump switch (2-way only), engine page would look a bit different due to SEP not SET (Working Title would have to work on that).
Those would be my suggestions what needed to be change to get a SR20
