I’m having a bit of trouble understanding the theory behind inputting the the flight plan on the CJ4 screens with the keyboard below it.
Is it necessary to do this if I’ve already sent the flight plan to the avionics via the EFB? I’ve watched several videos and everyone seems to do it so I’m wondering what I’m missing. Having said that, the 3 flights I’ve flown so far have all had discontinuations in the plan so I’m thinking it is necessary to manually input the flight plan?
Add the RWY as the last waypoint.
You can confirm the plan loaded by pressing the LEGS button and using PREV/NEXT to scroll the pages and ensure all waypoints loaded. Discontinuities are normal depending upon the leg type. You can delete those in the LEGS pages.
It’ll I put a “discontinuity” if there’s a manual sequence somewhere in the flight plan like the transition from STAR to approach. You can delete these to connect the waypoints but that can result in some wired paths that normally wouldn’t exist since ATC would vector you for the approach.
Since the FMS has a full keyboard I usually input my flight plans manually.
Here’s a quick video going over seeing the up the FMS for the Cj4 covering departures, enroute, arrival and approach. It’s quick but pause if you need a second to catch up
