CJ4 & Hotas 5 - Issues with Auto Pilot in MS2024

I am new to MSFS 2024 and just setting it up. So I apologize if this is something of a dumb question. I had everything set up and tried the Auto Pilot for the first time. It worked great!!! I made a couple of more bindings for my HOTAS 5. The next time I went in I could not “turn on” the AP nor could I make any adjustments to the knobs (Heading, Speed or Altitude). I decided that I must have mess up the bindings and decided to reset them to default. That was a mistake!!! Anyway I was able to get almost everything back together and was able to turn on the AP and make adjustments to the settings. However, it seems that the plane (CJ4) ignores the setting and I cannot figure out what I am missing. It just ignores by inputted altitude, course and speed settings. I can see them and change them with no response. Can anyone give me a clue as to what I must be missing? Thanks for your help with is.

Is it possible to post a close up of your AP and CDU settings?

Have you put both FD’s ON?
Did you take off with TOGA button with TO on the FADEC mode annunciator showing a Grren TO?
Have you set your Speed bugs?

Thanks for your Reply Pilot. Is there any particular part of the FD settings you would like to see?

No I did not take off with the TOGA button on. I did not think there was toga button on the CJ4.

Not certaiwhat you are referring to when you say “speed bugs”. Where is that and how would I know if I did?

Follow this example - try this until you have cracked it

Initialise position

Dep/arr with rnav proc should be filled in if you sent from EFB as should waypoints. T/o was just VFR

Pg2

Next - PERF button

Next click VNAV button and it shows that is set and the transition ALT

Go back by clicking PERF button again
Click on Takeoff next, you will see these weather parameters you need to fill in

Next click to pg 2 using the next button, you will see the TO ref speeds. Click the SEND button and they will turn blue and then look at your PFD you will have magenta speed bugs

Make sure both FD’s are on, set up ALT etc

Toga button, press before accelerating to T/O, note annunciator panel with TO on it

At 400 ft, put on AP and yaw, half bank if you are doing lots of it (not in this example though), HDG or NAV as you prefer
