CJ4 Working Title - Autopilot "1/2 Bank" mysteriously getting activated

On the CJ4 WT, I’ve noticed a few times that the “1/2 Bank” autopilot function is somehow getting activated without me pushing the button. I originally noticed this when I was doing a STARS procedure with several turns, and the plane kept struggling with keeping up with the waypoints. After some searching, I finally saw the small arc on the PFD, at the top of attitude display, which indicates that 1/2 bank is on.

Anyone seeing this feature magically turning on?

Do you know what altitude you were at? In real life, in a lot of jets it will automatically engage at a certain altitude. Not sure if WT has modeled this into theirs or not but could be the explanation for it.

I’ve noticed the 1/2 Bank “on” twice when flying to KAPA flying the “ZOMBZ5” STAR (using VNAV), which has a few turns during the descent. I don’t know what altitude, but maybe I’ll try to repro this sometime this week. Unsure if there is anything modelled in the CJ4 WT; I checked their documentation but didn’t see anything.

FYI, I did verify that there are no keyboard bindings that might inadvertently have activated 1/2 Bank.

Yes, the WT CJ4 will automatically enable and disable 1/2 bank at a specific altitude and/or speed. I just don’t remember off the top of my head what it is.

Interesting. I’d say something is flawed, because with it activated, the turn radius is way too shallow to keep up with the waypoints descending on that particular STAR. Again, I’ll try to fly this route in the next 2-3 days and monitor this.

It kicks in at a fairly high altitude. I’m thinking around 30k. By the time you get down to STAR altitudes it should have shut itself off. I’ve never had a problem with it working incorrectly but you should be able to turn it off by pressing the button on the MCP.
