Closing dev mode enables FPS screen?

I had dev mode on, because I was testing some things but after exiting dev mode the performance counter stayed on. So I enabled dev mode again and turned off the fps counter. When I exit dev mode, the fps counter turns on again. When I enter dev mode, the fps counter disappears.

Very annoying.

As a workaround for me, I leave Dev mode on when exiting MSFS and after starting it again, I can turn off Dev mode without the FPS overlay coming back.

But I agree, pretty annoying issue. I’d actually love to have a hotkey or a separate on/off option for the FPS display since I don’t want to have Dev mode running to see the FPS overlay, but right now they are bound to each other AND have this annoying bug on top of it.

Having separate options for them would make both better.

I’ve seen this flip flopping before. For me, this happened when I turned off dev. mode via the dev. mode menu at the top of the screen. When the sim restarts dev. mode is on again. The way I turn it off now is to go back to the main menu under General/Developers. That really turns it off for me.

Good point. I actually thought it would do the same as the Options menu just a bit easier. Will give it a try then…

I only use dev mode every now and then because of the counter. When I’m done, switching it off in options doesn’t stop the counter as stated. But at the next sim start it will be gone. It worked several times this way.
BTW an fps display in VR mode would be nice. This one apparently doesn’t work. My workaround: Win+G keys > fps counter, sim > pause, take off the glasses to look at it

If it wasn’t for the long loading times (even without mods) I wouldn’t mind quiting and restarting the game.

I just updated my sdk and in game now my fps counter can be turned off in the dev mode options but when i turn off dev mode the fps counter is still there. How do i turn it off?

It acts in an odd way at times.

The main cure is to turn fps counter off and exit dev mode and restart the sim, not ideal.

I was able to shut it off in flight today and was happy I thought they had fixed that but apparently I just got lucky that once.

That did it. Thanks.

I have this problem but now find that restarting the sim doesn’t even help and the fps counter loads with the sim whether I had closed it in dev mode or not. As it can only be turned off in dev mode but always returns when I turn dev mode off (by either method) I’m stuck with always having to play in dev mode.

Surely there must be a fix or a hotkey for this? I don’t want to download MSFS yet again.

Edit: Dev mode off and then restarting my whole PC fixed it … but all the same I think it needs looking at and it could also be smaller etc.

I just noticed that after you have turned on the FPS display, it will remain even after exiting dev mode. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case before.

I’m not sure if this is intentional, I personally like it, although it might be confusing how to turn it off again (have to reenable dev mode and then turn it off, then exit dev mode).

I’ve not seen it recently but its a long standing bug as far as I remember. It would toggle on when closing dev mode. If I remember right the way to get rid of it was to turn on dev mode, turn the fps viewer off then back on again, then close dev mode, and the fps viewer would also close.

No it’s not that bug again. I think it’s just been changed so that people can still use it when not in dev mode.

My only complaint is that it’s too big (and too opaque) depending on the resolution I play at.
