Cloud Chasers: The Desert Breeze Run

A rugged route. Remote airstrips. Real adventure.
This route takes us on a northwest trek through Ethiopia’s diverse landscape, beginning at HASO (Asosa Airport) near the Sudanese border. From there, we continue to HSDZ (Debre Zeit Airport)—a lesser-known strip nestled near volcanic lakes—then head into the highlands toward HABD (Debre Marqos). We finish the journey at HAGN (Gondar Airport), perched near the Simien Mountains and rich with historic charm.

Expect rolling hills, steep terrain, and plenty of visual navigation opportunities as we hop across these elevated outposts. A perfect flight for GA aircraft and adventurous sim pilots!

Quick note about the route change. I originally planned the flight using Microsoft’s (Working Title) online flight planner. Come to find out this information is NOT in the simulator nor in Little Navmap even after updating the AIRAC.

I tried to manually plug in the waypoints and relabel them, but to no avail. When I loaded the .pln into MSFS it didn’t know what to do with it. So; here’s an updated flight plan with airports MSFS will recognize.

Original route: Most of these airports do not exist in MSFS.

HALA → HASD → HAJM → HAJK → HAAM

Okay, quick update: I’ve adjusted the route again. Some of the previous airports weren’t showing up consistently across all mapping tools, especially for Xbox users and Little Navmap. I’ve now selected and verified a new route that works across multiple platforms and planners—should be smooth for everyone.
